The 10 Biggest Things That Can Ruin A Man’s Life – Part 4

We’re halfway to covering the top ten things that can and do ruin men lives. I want to cover a little more ground with this one so we’re going to get right into. So far we’ve covered not having goals, poor money management and general understanding of money, bad relationships, addictions, and not growing. Let’s keep it up.

Thing That Ruin The Lives Of Men 6 – Foolishness

Ignorance, stupidity, foolishness, lack of critical thinking skills, whatever you want to call it. Not understanding how to gain wisdom and how to think are two things that’ll torpedo any hope your life has for being the one that you want. Most people don’t think, they don’t think because it’s hard work to think and people avoid hard work like the plague. And because of this they end up places they don’t want to be. You have to learn to think critically, recognize patterns, and above all else gain wisdom.

So where does wisdom come from and how does one go about gaining it? There are many different ways but I’m going to lay out the two most effective. And those are reading and new experiences. No one man can have all the experiences in this world, there’s just not enough time and means. Because of this you need to read about other experiences and learn from them. I recommend that you always have a non-fiction book that you’re reading. Shoot for at least one a month.

And then of course seek new experiences in your own life. Learn as you go. Try new things and see what you learn from them. The more you experience, granted you have some critical thinking skills, the more that you learn. So try new things and learn new things. Always think about things and ask “why?”, why is this like this or that like that? Always ask “why” it’s the most powerful single question you can ask. Look for patterns and think critically about things.

Thing That Ruin The Lives Of Men Part 7 – Weakness

Next to foolishness I’d say weakness is another big problem for males. If you’re weak you’re never going to be able to accomplish very much in this life. Even if you are wise and free from vice, if you are weak you won’t be able to affect much in this world or in your own life. You have to cultivate strength of mind, body, and spirit. You can afford to be weak in any area. Shore up all areas.

But how to do this?

Let’s address each aspect one by one. We’ll start with physically. You want to stay in shape and not just for vanity reasons or to attract a mate. Your body, mind, and spirit are all connected. Proper functioning of one helps proper functioning of the other. Eat a healthy diet, get good sleep, stay clear of vices, and do exercise of some sort. Do something that challenges you whatever that may be. Hiking, exploring, combat sports, hunting, whatever. Just something that pushes you.

Mentally. To gain strength mentally there are two things. First is to control your mind and emotions, mindfulness meditation is the single best thing I can think of for this. Learn to keep up under pressure and not break. Learn to build and exert willpower for those times when you’ll need to call upon it. Look for challenges, seek out challenge and discomfort. Seek our eustress and good suffering. Not suffering like needless pain but suffering for a greater goal. Working hard at something and pushing yourself for something.

Spiritually. Keep yourself clear of crap. Don’t listen to bad music, drink, smoke, things of that nature, do things that are natural and healthy. Spend time in nature, breath fresh air, don’t be consumed by the craziness of the world around you. Come out of the world and become part of the natural order. Focus on good things and make them part of your daily life.

Leave no room for cowardice or weakness in your life. Be strong, be brave, be true.

Thing That Ruins The Lives Of Men Part 8 – Naivety

Now at first glance this may seem like the same as foolisness and while there’s certainly some overlap I’m listing it as a separate thing. Because here’s the thing there are men that are wise in many different, in life in general, but their naivety of a few things completely skewers their view of the world. So because of this we need to not only be wise but also understanding. Understand the dark and often harsh realities of the world around us and how it works.

Granted if someone was truly wise they’d have this understood but again I wanted to make a specific entry for it. So now how does this work? How does one gain understanding, maturity, know how the world works around them. This starts with a constant pursuit and search for truth. Don’t stop with the first answer you get, keep going, keep digging, keep unearthing the many lies and buried truths out there. Keep asking why, always ask why, and keep going, keep searching.

You can’t be satisfied with surface level answers, you have to delve deep and you have to keep delving. Your first and only true loyalty has to be to the truth. Now you may keep that truth to yourself for safety reasons but you want to possess as much truth as you possibly can, even if it’s unpleasant or goes against certain taboos or restrictions. What is the truth? Seek it out, pursue it, never stop running after it. You’ll never catch all of it or understand all of it but you can do enough to completely change your world around you.

Three More To The List

Foolishness, weakness, and naivety. Three more things that have ruined the lives of many a man and three things that you want to excise from your life. Don’t be a fool, or a coward, or naïve. Learn how the world works, the strength to meet it, and the harsh truths that most would hide away from.
