The Consequences Of Having The Wrong Mindset

It wasn’t too long ago that I wrote about one of the deadliest sins that a man can suffer from, that is the sin of foolishness. Now at first you may say “Charles, foolishness isn’t a sin.” but I would say you’re wrong and I’d say God says you’re wrong too. Here’s why. Look out at the world, look out at nature. What do you see? What things are rewarded in both the natural world and human society? Is foolishness one of them? Granted in some circles fools are given money and promoted for controlled purposes.

But aside from that foolishness leads to destruction not prosperity. And by prosperity I mean a whole lot more than material wealth. There are consequences to foolishness, often dire consequences. Sometimes death, sometimes destruction, but almost always bad. Therefore according to the world, according to nature, foolishness is a “sin”, it’s an error. An error in thinking and an error in living, an error in how one views the world and how it works.

I wanted to expand on that concept a bit today. To talk more about “sin” as in error. To talk more about why things go wrong in people’s lives and the actions that they could’ve taken to prevent it. And a lot of it has to do with the mentality that people have towards the world and how it functions. Many have a very naive view of the world and suffer because of it. This is sad, often tragic, because they don’t know why they suffer. But it all has to do with looking at reality clearly.

Worldview, Foolishness, & Happiness

Many of suffering in this world and many will continue to suffer in this world, there is nothing that can done to eliminate worldwide suffering except nuking every hospitable place on the planet. The extermination of mankind is the only way to truly prevent human suffering. And trying to eliminate suffering completely is a fool’s errand. However you can greatly eliminate the bad kinds of suffering in your own lives and through influence and example the lives of those around you, especially family.

But anyways what causes this? Having the correct view of the world is one thing. When you have the correct view of the world and how it works you naturally take more right actions. And taking more right actions leads to less of the bad kinds of suffering. Simple in concept, much harder in execution. I’m getting a little off track here but a good fundamental concept to think about. So when we see people with wrong worldviews and suffering because of those worldviews we know to try to avoid that ourselves.

For example most modern ways of thinking think that “weakness” however you want to define that is not a bad thing. Whether physically, mentally, or spiritually. However weakness, like foolishness, has consequences. Sometimes these consequences are minor annoyances othertimes they’re your entire life being destroyed before your eyes. Some people are lucky and can skirt the consequences for foolishness but generally its their children who reap what they have sown.

Weakness, Like Foolishness, Is A Sin

I don’t mean that if you can’t bench press 315 that it’s a sin. Rather I’m saying weakness in general whether it’s mentally. Meaning someone that has a weak mind, a weak will, a person who’s thinking skills are non-existent. Weak spiritually, where a person gives in to every vice and has a cloud heart and mind. And of course a weak body. Where one can’t defend oneself or the people they love and so on and so forth. Every kind of weakness physically, mentally, and spiritually has a myriad of associated consequences.

Weakness invites destruction. Let me say that again, weakness invites destruction. That doesn’t mean be paranoid and think you have to spend every moment of every day making sure all your weaknesses are sealed up. Rather what it means is that we should all be aware of areas we are weak in, know the potential consequences for being weak in that area, and work to do something about it so we’re not caught off guard.

Work to understand the world around you and all of its harsh realities. Work to instill that understanding in your children and those close to you, those you care about. Those you don’t want to see destroyed. Not through shouting at them and guaranteeing they’re closed off to anything you say. But through using emotions and influence backed by logic to show them how the world works. Through sales and storytelling and other influencer skills. Ones we should all be proficient in. And never forget, weakness, like foolishness, is a sin. And sin has consequences.
