How To Make Sure That You Will Reach Your Goals In A Decent Time Frame

Goals, goals, goals.

Without them we aren’t going to do much. What gets written down, gets remembered. What gets remembered has a far likelier chance of getting done. We’ve talked about how to set good goals. SMART is a decent acronym for good goals. Goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time Bound. Goals that’ll get you results and have you chugging along to get to where you want to go in life. Doesn’t matter what facet of your life this is. Health, wealth, relationships, or more.

All the smart acronym I wanted to talk about two factors that I think are particularly important. The measurable and time bound. You have to have numbers attached to your goals, as much as possible. For example we all know that “I want to lose weight” is not a good goal to have. “I want to lose 3% body fat” is a much better goal.

Then you break that out into day by day tasks that’ll get you to your goal. So tracking macros and calories or making sure you hit the gym five times a week or get eight hours of sleep, whatever it may be for you. We’ve covered this in quite a bit of depth, use the search bar and look up “goals” if you want pages and pages worth of going in depth on this subject.

Today, I’m going to assume that you already have your goals covered.

And we’re going to move on to having them bring you a good ROI.

How To Make Sure Your Goals Are Bringing You A Positive ROI

You always have to measure what you are putting in and what you are getting out, to ensure that you are on the right path. For example if you’re hitting all your workouts and your food is dialed in, and it’s been more than a month yet you see no improvements what-so-ever then it’s safe to say that something is wrong. When you identify that something is wrong you then go back to the drawing board and make adjustments.

It is in this constant monitoring of data and adjusting to feedback that you ensure that you are moving towards your goals and not down a dead end. Set the goals in your mind, make them SMART, write them down.

Let me repeat: Write Them Down.

Preferably in a place that you’ll see everyday.

Read them out loud every morning. It will help to keep them cemented in your mind. But then measure that you’re accomplishing your daily goals and then see what comes of it. Understand that many goals are going to take longer than you think they will. I generally recommend people double it. What I mean is that if you think a goal will take a week it will probably take two, a year and it’ll probably take two, and so on and so forth. Keep the goal to a shorter time just understand you might not hit it there.

Most people underestimate the work that it’ll take.

Once you have goals set and daily actions taken, then it’s being smart and adjusting to the feedback that you get that’ll take you the rest of the way.

The Power Of The Why

Whenever you get feedback, and by feedback I mean whenever you get data from anything, always ask yourself why. Why did this thing happen this way and not another? Try not to get mad or frustrated, though sometimes that is impossible. Or even if you do get mad then at least ask yourself why after you’ve calmed down. The world is constantly giving up feedback, very often negative feedback. The key is not let emotions bog us down and instead figure out what the world is telling us.

For example if you’ve asked twelve girl on dates and they’ve all said no, well then why is that? Chances are there is something about the way you ask or look or are that is resulting in you not getting positive feedback. Likewise if you’ve applied for twelve jobs and they’ve all rejected you, why is that? Those are basic examples but it applies to everything in life.

Why?

Why is that?

Are questions that you should be asking yourself multiple times a day. Figure out the why and the how oftentimes takes care of itself. Why, why, why. I cannot drill that into your head enough. Everything has a reason, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, and so on and so forth.

Figure out what those are and you’ve gained tremendous power.

Do this day by day and you’ll not only accomplish your goals but at a much quicker rate than others.

There’s more to this but that’s all we have time for now.
