Members Only Post #34 – The Connection Between A Healthy Body & A Healthy Mind

Everything in you is interconnected. The health (or lack of) of your mind, body, and spirit affects all the others. Having a sickly body affects the health of your mind and spirit as does having a sickly spirit affect the state of your physical health and mental health and so on and so forth. Too often people like to compartmentalize things which leads to all sorts of problems in a world where everything is connected.

I’ve dedicated quite a bit of space to having a healthy body as well as spirit but feel I have neglected the mind a bit, hence all the newer articles about things like dopamine, addiction, and the like. If we are to be fully men and fully alive then we must “trim the fat” from all areas of our lives not just our waistlines (though don’t neglect the importance of that either). We must become strong physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Obviously this takes work and is a bit harder than just taking a girl home from a bar or making a couple hundred a month from a side hustle. This requires real life change (that’ll make any of those other things you want to do way easier but that’s besides the point) and hard work. Here we’re going to talk about the link between mental and physical health and why both are so critically important for full functioning.

The Link Between Physical & Mental Health

Doing things like lifting weights, going for a run, hiking, or sparring/rolling are not just beneficial for the body but also the mind. Likewise doing things like reading a book or meditating are not just beneficial for the mind but for the body as well. Same with something like taking a quiet walk through nature. Your body is getting exercise and your mind is being put at ease which in turn also helps the health and wellness of your spirit. When you try to separate and compartmentalize these things is when you end up with trouble.

For example someone trying to kick a bad habit/addiction like cigarettes, alcohol, weed, porn, or even video games who focuses only on trying to get that thing out of their life without also taking other measures to address other areas of their life they’re often going to end up failing time and time again and end up in a negative cycle. It’s only when they look at their life as a whole and try to bring balance to the whole thing that success results, again generally there are exceptions to pretty much everything.

But if you go through life trying to be the exception you’re not going to get very far. It sort of like what I tell guys who are having trouble attracting women. Focusing on women or “game” is rarely ever the solution instead focusing on total wellbeing and becoming a man that is naturally going to be attractive to women is the goal here. Not chasing more girls who are going to reject you or trying to play the “numbers game” which never actually pans out.

Healing Properties Of The Body

Your body has immense capacity for healing and growth far more than bugmen scientists and their like ever give it credit for. So whether your body or mind is suffering it can be healed (same with spirit) and brought to full strength and health, for the most part, there are exceptions in the case of crippling injuries and brain damage but I think you know that’s not what I’m talking about here.

For example, not to be redundant but a TON of guys who come to my site for help with women are addicted to porn, even if they don’t admit it. And to me addiction is to the mind what obesity is to the body. A disease that needs to be treated and healed from for proper functioning. And that if left untreated will always have a negative impact on your life and keep you from being the man you were created to me (proper dopamine functioning is pretty critical for doing everything you want).

Anyways my main goal with this is to understand that everything is interconnected and that progress in one area is going to have an effect on other areas. This doesn’t mean to neglect any area of course, but just that everything is connected and its hard to completely heal one area without also addressing the others. Most things you want in life are going to come from hard work, being smart, taking action, and being in proper balance. So work on those things to get what you want.
