Happy New Years & The Upcoming Year

First off I wanted to wish you all a Happy New Years and talk about new years resolutions of sorts. First off I’m not a big fan of the typical new years resolutions made by the masses. If you really cared about something you would have been doing it all year, there’s nothing special about January 1st. However at the same time for those already working and who have spent their entire year working towards accomplishing their goals then there is some use of the new year and that is making a yearly plan. Most likely this will not hold up but it will give you a general direction to go in.

However that is not what this is about. This is about something deeper and more timeless than a yearly plan. Looking forward 2019 will be the fourth year of my writing. I started In February (well really January, started publishing in February) of 2016 and haven’t stopped. Sometimes publishing as much as three times a day. I’ve found I do better at a slower pace but that was a fun challenge that made me think harder and try to experience more.

It’s crazy how time flies. But the point of this is that when starting had I know how long it’d take to make X amount of income and that most of it would be made from something unrelated to the project I was starting I would have probably quit right then and there and looked elsewhere. Very often success and achieving the dream that we want takes more time and effort that we initially expect.

Big Goals, Hard Work

That is if you’re working towards big worthy goals and to become a legend in your own right. Understand that the path to greatness is a long and lonely one. A cliche but something that few people actually understand until they embark on it. Sort of like the difference from mentally understanding “Yeah taking a shot from Mike Tyson in his prime would suck” and actually taking a shot. You know it sucks but you don’t know how much until actually experiencing it. A kidney stone is sort of the same deal.

The journey and path are harder than you’d expect but they are still worth it. Regardless of what your end goal may be. I don’t believe that whole “It’s about the journey not the destination” bullshit because it’s about both. And the most important thing is that you actually start as Gary Halbert used to say “Movement always produces more results than mediation”. So establish your big goals and ideal life now and set about how you plan on accomplishing it. Whether that’s financial stability, in great health, highly developed skills of some sort, or whatever else write it down and make a plan to accomplish it.

I can guarantee you that the plan will change but that does not make it worthless. Rather it’s importance is in getting you started and giving you a beacon to follow in the beginning even if it changes rather rapidly. Sometimes you have to take side paths, go over or around things, and make some detours before finally getting where you want to go, that’s just how things work. But every step that you take in a forward direction is a positive one and a step in the right direction. Even if the steps start out small.

Happy New Years

So again I want to wish you a Happy New Years and know that with hard work and the right guidance that is exactly what it will be. Make changes, push forward, and become more. Walk the path and be prepared to meet whatever challenges you face on it, and trust me you will meet plenty of challenges. What is a good story without monsters to slay and traps to avoid or get out of? Life is no different and accomplishing big worthy goals is no different either. I’ll see you on the path.
