Why You Should Take A Vacation To Travel Across The Country

Or continent depending on where you live. Different places are different. At first glance that probably seems like the most obvious statement in the world, on par with saying that water is wet. But when you look at it differently it actually has deep meaning to it. I’ve long talked about the importance of financial independence on this site and talked about how things like marketing, sales, and copywriting are the quickest ways to get there.

I’ve also talked a little bit about why financial independence is important. Sure there are things like being able to afford a nice house, get the things you want, not have the constant worry of money hanging over your head, and a good many others but it goes beyond that as well and ties into something that I’ve been talking about more and more which is moving to a place that is more like you and a place that you’re going to want to be in for the long haul.

The world is changing, don’t get me wrongs it’s always changing but it’s reaching a new “age” and things are accelerating at the rate that they change. Neighborhoods where your family has lived for 10 generations may become death traps for you grandchildren. Countries that were once the smartest place to live may turn into hell holes and places once thought crazy to be may become the best places to be. And so on and so forth.

Long Term Planning

You have to think long term about what you want and where you want to be. For example I’ve seen it suggested that young single men should move to the city in order to chase more girls and have better access to random girls. To be this is about the most insane thing I can think of. What they don’t factor in is the cost of living, the changes taking place in cities, the debt, and a whole lot of other factors and just to chase a couple extra skirts? It just doesn’t make sense.

Likewise those that opt for the nice suburbs that will be swallowed up by the refuse from the city in ten years or so. Your gated neighborhood won’t protect you. Look at the part of the country that you live in. Things are changing. Are you in a part of the country that you might not be wanted in sometime soon? That you shouldn’t be in? Are you taking this into consideration? I’ll use America as an example but whatever country you live in you’ll have your own. But the South, Midwest, Northeast, South west, Northwest, and New York/California/Florida are all entirely different places to live.

One place might be heaven for one person and hell for another. People generally live in one place their whole lives and either think other places are sanctified mini heavens or hellish places when they’re generally somewhere in between (but sometimes not). Maybe where you live now is perfect for you or maybe it’s just all you know, or maybe something else. Another reason to travel and see. Granted a vacation is not the same as living somewhere but it can give you an idea of some things.

Places & People Are Not The Same

I see many people who make a common mistake of thinking that people are just the same as wherever they are. People are not all the same and cultures stem from people. Living in a culture/people that hates you and hates what you stand for isn’t good for you long term or short. This is something that a lot of people have prided themselves on being blind to for awhile now. But ignorance is not bliss, ignorance is pain just waiting to happen. Stupidity is always punished. The real world doesn’t care about your yuppie politically correct morals.

You need to find your people, find your place, and find your tribe and make sure it’s not about to be extinct where you live. The world is becoming more and more tribal, nature is reasserting itself. High-minded/foolish (depending on your perspective) ideals do nothing for reality, always remember that. But anyways you might want to take some time to go out and explore the country you’re in. See what’s different and how and where you might think of staying. Don’t let weather trick you, people and culture are more important than that. So take some time and see what the world is like.
