Some Words On Happiness, Fulfillment, &…God’s Will?

I talk a lot about struggle and strife. And that is because as men it is struggle and strike that is going to shape and form a whole lot of who we are. Overcoming challenges, true adversity, and whatever the world has to throw in our face. However with all of that being said I think it’s also important to realize that even if the face of adversity and going through the hardest times it is still possible to be fulfilled and even…happy.

But this is not happiness as in a fleeting good feeling this is rather something deeper and more permanent a crucial part of who one is as a man. Something that emanates from the soul. One of the best ways I can think of describing it are those that smiled when about the be executed or those who facing overwhelming odds that crushed them smiled in the face of death and plunged on.

To be fully alive, happy, and free. This isn’t some modern hippy bullshit but something timeless and powerful. Like I said something that emanates from deep within oneself. And doesn’t go away in different circumstances but stays with them as long as they are them. I think this ties in with another concept that many people talk about but most fail to understand. So let’s start with that.

The Concept Of God’s Will

So different religions have different meanings of this but we’ll cover some general one’s here. The first is the stupid one and that is whatever happens is the will of God. So for example when soldiers enter a town and throw the villager’s baby in the air to try to land them on their bayonets as a game, this is God’s will and if someone asked why they’d say “Well he works in mysterious ways.” or some such bullshit.

Now this version of “God’s will” works fine if you live a sheltered and easy life but fails to live up to the realities of the world unless your idea of God is a crazed and cruel maniac which if you’ve ever seen nature and lived anywhere near a primal life you’ll also realize is complete bullshit. Only modernist bitter atheist with little imagining believe such nonsense. So then what actually is God’s will and what the heck does it have to do with happiness and fulfillment?

But here’s what I’ve always taken from the concept. So first off it doesn’t matter if your God is Crom, Odin, Yahweh, or whoever else the principle remains the same. I see it as God(s) created man and a certain order for him to live, there are those he/they favor and those that he/they do not. Those that live most according to how man was created to live are those that feel most fulfilled and happy. Because they are living God’s/the gods’ will for their lives.

Again you don’t have to be religious to understand this because it’s a broad concept. There is a certain way to live that most fulfills you and it’ll be different in some ways for different people. And to be happy and fulfilled it’s important to find out what that is.

Finding Fulfillment

For example three things that fulfill me is writing, fighting, and getting into nature. They’re just two things that really light a fire in me on a deep level and I’d rather be a broke hobo under a bridge and have these things in my life then be the richest man in the world and not have them. So I know that “God’s Will” for my life involves these things.

I should note that these things fulfill me on a much deeper level than drugs, drinking, or banging randoms ever did. Sort of like the difference from satisfying you thirst from soda (doesn’t hydrate you and you only end up thirstier among other things) and drinking fresh spring water. The more I grow and evolve the closer I move to what “God’s Will” is for me and therefore closer to true happiness and fulfillment.

And it’s different for different people. You have to find out what yours is for yourself and then do whatever you can to make it so. But I can pretty much guarantee you it won’t be banging X number of club rats, it won’t be making X amount of dollars (beyond the money that gives you freedom of course), or getting X number of likes, shares, or whatever. Not that those things won’t play a role in your life, just not the main one.

The End Goal

I think it’s also important to think about what the end goal of all that you do is. What does the things you’re doing lead to? Does it lead to a happy, manly, and fulfilled life or are you not sure? Or do you know for sure that it won’t? So many people numb themselves to this because they know the path they’re on isn’t leading where they want. So instead of doing the hard work required to fix and straighten their path they instead self-medicate and destroy part (or all) of themselves.

This isn’t meant to be some wooey bullshit but cold hard truth. This is extremely important for a man. You only have one life to live and it’s pathetic to waste it away in apathy, numbness, or not living with a fire in your heart and every moment to its fullest. Living the way you were created to live. Fully alive physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
