Members Only Post #76 – Finding Sane Places In A Insane World

It’s no secret that the world is a pretty crazy place and can be exhausting for most people out there. One of the biggest things that I can recommend is finding places that make sense and “vibe” with you, whatever that may be. It’s been awhile now since I’ve watched the news. A long time ago I thought that you had to watch the news to be informed. That if you didn’t important events would pass you by and you’d sit there like a man who missed his train.

However I’ve since discovered that the news doesn’t inform you, it doesn’t inform you at all. As a matter of fact is misinforms you at the same time that it makes you negative and angry. So ultimately you become dumber and angrier (could explain some things in regards to the world as a whole). I found out that I can stay just as informed simply living my life and that most of what I needed to be informed of was nonsense.

I have the same regards for politics as well. I care little for them, I see little point in voting considering that the game is rigged from the start. Usually this would get one called a “conspiracy theorist” but I think more and more people are understanding that the only “conspiracy” is believing everything you’re told. But anyways where to find sanity in a world gone mad? Where to find good things in a world filled with base?

Going Where The Good Things Are

There are many places of refuge for me in this world. Places that keep me sane and keep from finding a high bridge and leaping off of it blissfully. For many this is their family (and for many it’s not). I’m going to lay out some places for me and maybe you’ll find your own places as well. For starts nature has always been a refuge for me. Things make sense in the natural world. The stillness, the silence, and the many other things. I don’t have to tell you that nature is recharging and serves almost as an “anti-news” as in it makes one smarter and calmer.

The gym where I box and do MMA/BJJ is another place. There is something logical and primal to be about trying to beat a man in front of me, engaging me on fair terms, and generally fighting with honor but still trying their hardest to beat me. There is something refreshing and soothing about it, despite the actual doing of it being intense and heart pounding. Afterwards we embrace as friends and with respect for one another. Again a place that makes sense and where the world seems to still be somewhat sane.

Another place is when creating and enjoying art. Whether it’s finding a quiet place and listening to classical music. Reading or writing a good novel. Drawing and sketching that around you. All of these things bring some sort of sanity to the world for me. Combine them with nature and you have a very special thing. The best day for me is writing, listening to good music with a view of nature, then going and boxing/wrestling/whatever and coming home and spending time with those I want to. That provides sanity for me.

The Need For Division

Now when I say I don’t get into politics I don’t mean I don’t have thoughts or ideas regarding them. The political is the personal after all. You may not like the people that originally said that but it is true after all. Politics is using the political system to try to get the world that you want, it’s a personal thing. Voting for who you think is best for you and yours. And that’s entirely naturally and normal. What I mean is I don’t get caught up in the dog and pony show. I don’t get caught up in left vs right when both are controlled.

I don’t get caught up in loving or hating Candidate X (or Y or Z). However at the same time I understand the power and effect that politics has. One thing I want to point out is that there are less and less sane places and a large part of this is because the keeping together of things that should be split apart. Let me explain. Take a look at a country like America (United States). It’s a huge country with all sorts of different people. People differ culturally, religiously, racially, and about any other way you can think of.

Yet they’re all guided under one system, which just is never going to work. For example you could drastically reduce the conflict, anger, insanity, and such if you gave half the country to republicans and half to democrats and let them live the lives that they want to live and the culture they want to enforce, separately. Now I’m not saying that republicans and/or democrats are the end all be all. I’m just saying that’d be a start and would cause a lot more sanity. Another reason I recommend moving to a place “like you” for long term sanity and safety.

The Sanity Is Shrinking

There are many causes but the big thing is keeping yourself safe and sane. Take time to find out places where your soul can at rest and be normal. Stay away from the news and maybe move to a place that is more like you if possible. Culture matters in many different ways and this is just one of them. Anyways find sane places and keep them safe. Who knows one day deep in the woods might be all we have left. Enjoy what you can while you can.
