What does it mean to build a home? What makes a house a home? And why does any of this matter to you? For so long my writing has revolved around some of the basic needs of man. From developing from a boy to man (hitting 18 does not so this, many still die boys), how to be attractive to women and how this relates to masculinity itself, how to make money to keep one afloat and prosperous, how to stay in good health, how to defends oneself, and quite a bit more.
I’m at 1000 and something articles now and I feel that I’ve done quite a bit of digging in those respective fields (though don’t worry there’s still more to come) that I’d like to take more time to focus on the higher things in life. So let’s say that you’re a man who in general has his shit together. You’re making a comfortable living, having the relationships that you want with friends, family, and significant others, in shape, can take care of yourself, and now you’re wondering what’s next in life.
Do you get on the endless treadmill of making more money for the sake of making more money? Do you keep chasing women for the short term validation of having another “notch”? Will that fulfill you? Will that lead to a life that is worth living and that you enjoy and are proud of? Most likely not. So then the question is, what will? What is next for a man that has his shit together? What is the answer.
Building A Home
To me I’d say that the next step for a man is to build a home, meaning a family and a legacy. Once the basics are covered and that first level has been reached I think this is man’s natural next calling. Now there are going to be some exceptions here and there. Those that are made to focus exclusively on their art or something else but for the vast majority of men building a family, building a home is going to be the next logical step. But what does this mean?
This means finding a woman who’d make a good wife, and building a life where you’ll be able to raise children successfully. Something that’s way easier said than done, on both accounts. Its too easy to get caught up in all of the bad things in this world and let that make you despair and figure that it’s all useless. While it’s good to be aware of what is out there this can also be a form of self-administered demoralization. Essentially we’re accomplishing the enemies job for him/them.
Good things can grow on rocky soil and a man who has his shit together is going to want to start cultivating. To make fires in the darkness, this is not an easy task. And it’s one that the entirety of the modern world is going to fight against. If you thought you were opposed just wanting to be a masculine man living on his own just wait until you’re a masculine man wanting to raise a happy and healthy family.
Leaving A Legacy
Building a home turns to leaving a legacy. Through our blood we can achieve a sort of immortality. Not the vain kind that false gods and buried kings desired but rather a healthy one. One that will stand the test of time, but it’s something that we have to invest in. I’ve always said that a man needs to invest in himself and this is absolutely true, first and foremost you should invest in yourself. But not for mastubatory reasons or for the hell of it but so the you can therefore invest in and help others.
A rising tide lifts all boats is another way of putting it. You invest in yourself and go out and overcome challenge and slay dragons that you may bear fruit and that fruit may then go and help others. Not for the sake of investing in yourself alone. But to bear fruit. To become something more and live a legacy. This is a journey and it starts with investing in yourself and becoming more but that is not where it ends.
It is the nature of man to take all that he has learned and life and transfer it to the next generation, to his sons in particular that they may become more and even greater and so on and so forth down the line. So many have abdicated the responsibility of raising their children to schools, churches, or the media and wondered how generations have been lost. We can and will do better. And it starts by building a home.
