The Warrior Poet’s Guide To The 3 Fantasy Archetypes & How Following Them Can Make You The Ultimate Alpha

What are the three fantasy archetypes and how can they help a man become all that he can be? We’ve been talking a lot about how to become well rounded men, renaissance men, the warrior poet. And I know of no better framework for becoming well rounded then the three fantasy archetypes. These archetypes cover all aspects of man physical, mental, and spiritual. They are in line with the primal/cosmic order and help men to develop to the best of their ability.

So that they may do the work that they were put on this earth to do and become all that you were meant to be. But that requires hard work, dedication, and knowledge. What we aim to do here is cover the knowledge part the other parts will ultimately be up to you. The first thing we want to do is outline what the three archetypes are and what they mean.

The Three Fantasy Archetypes For Men

The three fantasy archetypes that we’ll be discussing here and the warrior, the rogue, and the wizard and how combining all three are what makes one a renaissance man or warrior poet. It is men who embody the best of all of these that can call themselves such. Men that have worked on all aspects of themselves and from all angles. Living lives that hum with energy, purpose, and drive.

Much like when you work on developing the three aspects of man, physical, mental, and spiritual there will be some overlaps between the three archetypes and by no means is this meant to be conclusive. This is meant to give you a starting point, something to work off of and from. No one guide can ever cover all that there is about these archetypes and what they encompass.

But this can lay down a foundation of understanding and pave the way for you to make the most of the archetypes. So let’s delve into each archetype piece by piece, bit by bit. We’ll start with the warrior then move on to the rogue and we’ll finish with the wizard. Then we’ll talk about synthesizing them. Because again just like with the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects, when you develop the warrior, rogue, and wizard archetypes of yourself.

The sum is far greater than its parts.

The Warrior Archetype

The warrior archetype is one that many men identify with early in life. And it’s one that’s commonly associated with masculinity and with good reason. Though all play a part. The warrior is the vital, physical, and primal part of man. It is the will, the fight, and the fire. When we say the word warrior we all have images that come to mind. A broad chested man wielding a sword or spear wading into battle. This is the warrior archetype and it is every man’s duty to develop it to the best of his ability.

There are two primary ways that I recommend developing the warrior archetype within yourself, though of course these are not the only ways, just the two that I personally find the best. And those things are combat sports and nature. Let me explain. Man has always had a martial tradition throughout time. Boys were trained to fight and be warriors as well as hunters, mechanics, or whatever else that period and time required of them. But the warrior was always there.

When a man is divorced from this he is divorced from part of himself. Combat sports whether boxing, MMA, wrestling, BJJ, kickboxing, or whatever allow a man another way into this. Combined with tactical type training I think it’s the perfect fit. With nature I mean being in nature, this could be camping, hiking, do a week long trek, whatever. Just being out in nature, in the elements, and being uplifted and tested by them.

The Rogue Archetype

Unfortunately when we think of a rogue we might think of someone with low moral character or a cheat, liar, or thief. However this is only part of the rogue archetype. Part of it is a man who is comfortable anywhere, charming, a man of wit and worldly knowledge. A man who can make a deal as well as escape from danger. A man who can mingle with criminals in one instance and princes in the next and never lose his step. That’s what is meant by the rogue archetype.

Again with the rogue archetype I’ll be providing the two best ways that I’ve found to develop this archetype but again don’t think that these are the only ways or the end all be all. Explore this archetype and find your own ways to develop it while using this as a starting point. So the two best ways that I’ve found to develop the rogue archetype are sales skills are art. Now what do I mean by these?

By sales skills I mean soft skills so that’s a combination of sales training, people skills, and just general understanding of human nature. Look up good sales books and they’ll give you most of this information. Take sales classes and courses. True sales is sleazy, scamming, or cheesy at all. It’s actually one of the most powerful skills you could ever learn. The next is art. Now this is a broad category but choose a field of art that you enjoy and learn all that you can about and of course do it. Whether writing novels, sketching, painting, sculpting, or whatever else.

The Wizard Archetype

The wizard archetype often brings to mind dusty libraries, dark knowledge, and unknown power and there’s much to be said for all of that. The things that set a wizard apart are his wisdom and knowledge, often won by seeing or understanding things that’d horrify the average person. You must develop the wizard archetype just as you do all the others for full rounded development.

There are two things that I’m going to recommend above all others for developing the wizard archetype. Again there are more but these are the two that I find most effective. And when starting out I recommend that you follow my suggestions for all three archetypes for anywhere from three months to a year before branching out on your own. But in regards to the wizard archetype the best two things I know for developing it are reading and writing.

Reading and writing have been the foundation for success and advancement in life essentially since they were first understood by humans. Read both fiction and nonfiction in things that interest you and things that confuse you. Read far and wide and let yourself be the judge of what is good and what is not. Read forbidden books, read old books, read new books, read loved books, read hated books, just be sure to read, read, read. And then write journals, articles, short stories, whatever. Writing will sharpen your mind, among other things.

Combining The Archetypes

Each archetype is powerful when refined to a high level. We all respect men that have accomplished much is one of the given archetypes. But the true power, the rare power comes from when you have all three working together. It is then that you become the warrior poet and the true power is unleashed. Look at the two things that I recommended for each, if you’re not doing them then start. It won’t be easy but nothing worthwhile is.

If you can’t do it all at once just do what you want. Over time you’ll come up with your own ways for developing each archetype. Just remember that it’s important to develop all three. Combined together they become greater than the sum of their parts. And isn’t that what we want?
