This is a guest post by M. Selassie of Bypass Mediocre.com a site dedicated to what it states in the title. In this article Selassie talks about the right mindset to have to help transform yourself and become more. Enjoy.

Get an Interiorty Complex

The person I am today is so different from who I was years ago. I look
back sometimes and I can’t believe all the petty fears, insecurities
and worries I had. A lot of that came from my upbringing and my
environment. I have two kids of my own now and I am so grateful I did
not pass on the abusive treatment I witnessed growing up. I am able to
raise them in a safe neighborhood and spend a lot of time with them.
To date, that is my greatest accomplishment. Overcoming all that
happened to me but yet still give my kids a great life.

With that said, I have learned something everyone needs to do. Have an
Interiority Complex. This means being true to yourself. Not living to
impress others and live up to others’ expectations. I picture the son
that wants to dance instead of being a lawyer like his parents want.
Or the daughter that wants to travel the world and skip college for a
year or pass on the family business. It’s so important to be who you
were meant to be. This means going with the flow of life.

There are so many pressures in life and in our society, especially in
the west. Social media has compounded this leading many to suffer from
getting cyberbullied to not getting enough ‘likes’ and the list goes
on. This has impacted our self worth to no end. Everyone now wants to
be liked, rich and famous. Now there is nothing wrong with being rich,
but if this is your only goal in life then you will be in for a rude
awakening. While money is important, it is not everything. How do I
know this? While I am not rich, I made a good living in banking but I
was not happy.  This is from someone who could have just about
anything one could ever want. Further, there are stories every day
about millionaires and billionaires who commit suicide or get strung
out on drugs.  There is no price you can put on Self Mastery. You are
in charge of your emotions but most let them run amok.

Part of Self Mastery is understanding who you are and why you are
here. Do you know that gut feeling you get when its decision time?
That’s your internal guide, not your gut. That’s your spirit or your
higher self. Listen to it. Act on it. Too many times we stifle this
voice. Only to our detriment. Learn to trust your inner self or as
some may say your higher self.  This may mean you are not the center
of attention but you are putting your attention at the center of your
being. This is so much more important.  I learned there is nothing
wrong with life in obscurity. Nothing at all. As a matter of fact, if
you are ok with being alone, that just says you accept yourself and
you don’t need external validation.

Watching someone like Tiger Woods before a swing only to get heckled
but still nails the club to the ball and doesn’t let any external
force affect his swing. This is Self Mastery. Tune out the noise and
still the mind. Let the universal energy and life force flow through
you. If everyone has a unique fingerprint that means we all are
unique. Whether you know it or not you have something that no one else
can offer.

Not Giving A Damn

The essential key to living with an Interiority Complex is to not give
a damn about what others think. Given my childhood, for years I
operated in a state of seeking approval from others. This was like
living in a prison cell. If someone did not like me or like what I
said or did, this affected my self-esteem. I was trapped in my
emotions of not feeling good enough. I had to break out of this cycle
and realize the only approval I needed was my own. Not my brother,
mommy or daddy needed to give me the green light for anything. And if
someone did not like me, then that was their problem. Trust what is
inside of you. Yes, this takes work. But that’s why we are here, to do
the work. As the author, Miguel Ruiz says, don’t take anything
personally. What I am saying here falls along those lines. In my years
I realized that no matter how good you are or try to be you will
always have doubters and naysayers. People will disrespect you. This
is a part of life. The code I live by in this regard is wherever I go,
20% of the people I meet will not like me, 20% will like me, and the
remaining 60% can go either way.

For you to live with an Interiority Complex, you will have to be
selfish. Yes, you will have to put yourself first. When you put
yourself first everything else will fall into place. It’s like they
say, you have to love yourself first before you love anyone else. Some
people have a problem with this. But let me tell you to try it. Go
ahead and put yourself first. Make you #1 in your life. Invest in
yourself. Don’t wait for someone or something to make you happy. You
make you happy. You need to come before family, friends and even your
kids. I cannot stress this enough. When you put yourself first,
everything else will fall into place. When you are complete and happy,
you will have so much more love to give. That’s how it works.

Also to add if you are listening to your inner voice, trusting in and
acting on it, goals become useless. You can have a vision, but if you
are moving with the energetic flow of the universe, what are goals
then really? I don’t even set goals. I have a vision and the universe
leads me to what I need to do next. The key is to listen and act on
it. Go with the flow.
