The Best On The Go “Protein” Shake I’ve Ever Had

Not too long ago I talked about reading writings by a guy who goes by the name Raw Egg Nationalist. Essentially Raw Egg is about going back to healthy eating involving primarily eggs, obviously, but also meat and raw dairy. Something that I’ve done in my own life with great effect. I like basics, the basics that work. Far too often we like to overcomplicate things when it’s really just the basics that we need.

For example “health” gurus who recommended ten different pill and supplement combinations to take each day. Such nonsense is crazy and not sustainable for the vast majority of people. Eating good and living good are not things that should take up more brain space than advanced calculus. They are things that should be done naturally and that flow with your nature rather than work tirelessly against it.

I have the same philosophy when it comes to most things in life. If you can’t put something in basic terms then you likely don’t understand it enough. Granted there are plenty of areas of knowledge where this does not hold true, but for the vast majority of things in life this is something you should listen too.

For example with working out. I’ve moved away from weights, well sort of, and more into basic body movements lately, in combination with MMA training. For example hill sprints, dips, pulls, though will still do deadlifts, squats (front and back), overhead presses, and overhead squats with some Olympic lifts.

Basics.

The Basics In Regards To Health

Something else I’ve been working on is expanding my business while looking for jobs that I can leverage for more money to help expand copywriting. Because of this I have been on the go, a lot. A lot, a lot. Leaving early and coming back late and because of that I have had less access to quality food and have had to compromise some in my diet. I usually eat a big meal when I get home consisting on plenty of meat, butter, raw dairy, and other good things.

But if I’m on the road for ten plus hours then I need more than just a meal waiting for me back at home. So I turned to shakes, which brings me back to mentioning Raw Egg Nationalist at the start. He has some good books that talk about old school bodybuilders, especially Vince Gironda who would from time to time consume a great shake based around egg yolks.

So what I’ve done is make a shake myself. Now feel free to cook your eggs if you want. I do my raw but that’s me. You have to know where you’re getting them from and that they’ve been raised, cleaned, and kept properly. Again feel free to cook the eggs if you want.

Regardless here’s what I’ve been having.

  • 3-5 spoonfuls of natural peanut butter (natural meaning the label says ingredients: peanuts and that’s it)
  • 3-6 whole eggs
  • A few slices of cream cheese, a spoonful of ricotta, sometimes both
  • Raw milk, just fill up to line in blender, not sure how much
  • Raw honey (I do a circle around the blender so again not sure exactly how much)
  • Sprinkle in some salt (real salt)
  • Sometimes I’ll do Greek yogurt instead of the cheese, all depends.

Also I thought the cheeses would be gross but they blend really well.

I really just kind of throw this together with whatever feels right for the day. As you can see there are not really any exact measurements. I have a big thermos sort of thing that I plop it in, it’s pretty big so it can hold whatever I end up using.

This is usually followed by a meal of roughly one pound combination of meat/cheese, organ meats, kombucha to drink, lots of butter on everything, and whatever else I feel like for the night.

If you’re on the go there are far worse options. I usually grab a lemony kombucha to have as a “chaser” afterwards depending where I’m at.

Keep It Simple, Simple Sticks

You don’t have to be constantly on the go to start this. Even if you’re just trying to make healthier choices this could be a good start. Whenever trying to make changes of advancement, it’s best to keep it simple. simple works best. Simple sticks the best. Diving into complex things takes time and effort and for something like feeling healthier and better it’ll be too hard and we’ll forget about it or give up on it before getting good results.

Keep it simple and you’ll go far.
