The 10 Laws Of The Warrior Poet – Part VI

Law Of The Warrior Poet IX – To See With True Eyes

To have one eye opened but another closed doesn’t do you much good. Likewise to see truth in one area of life but be completely blind to it in another doesn’t do you much good either. You must pursue truth in each and every area of your life. You can’t stop at one area because it makes you feel uncomfortable or because it challenges current beliefs. You have to pursue truth for the sake of truth. All else pales in comparison with what is true. Because it is by understanding and pursuing truth that we can forge a foundation to stand a life on.

Nothing else with do. Truth is the rock and falsehood, of any kind, is the sand. We must choose wisely what we build our house upon. The warrior poet seeks truth no matter what happens on the journey there. No matter if it shatters his current beliefs and sense of comfort. No matter if it makes him change his life completely. No matter if it is horrid and his life is never the same after. The truth may very well scar you but it is better to live with both eyes open to the horror rather than have them closed and living in illusion. You must make pursuit of the truth one of your biggest goals. Truth in all things.

Don’t confine your pursuit of truth to only certain sections of your life but not others. It must encompass your entire life and all that you do. In the pursuit of truth there are two critical skills that the warrior poet must develop to be able to help effectively grasp truth. Those two skills are pattern recognition and critical thinking. Pattern recognition is the ability to see trends as well as make connections between things that may at first seem unconnected. As well as a whole lot more. Critical thinking is to be able to sort through foolishness and find what is true using logic and wisdom as guides.

The warrior poet isn’t complete without a grasp and understanding of both pattern recognition and critical thinking. But above even that he must make the pursuit of truth a life encompassing goal. He must seek not that which he thinks will make him feel good or sound good but rather what is true. Again, not matter how horrible that may be. It is through truth that we move forward and build anything of lasting value. The lies fade, change, and morph but the truth is the truth and the only foundation that can stand the test of time.

Law Of The Warrior Poet X – To Echo In Eternity

Personally I believe that one day each and every one of us will go before the Grand Deity and we will have to account for how we spent our time and what became of it. Did we strive to be honorable? Strong? Wise? Good? Or did we give in to weakness and let it fester and overcome us? Regardless if this is your belief or not I think it is the best way to live and surely how the warrior poet lives. Look at every action you take, every thing you do, as something that will echo for eternity. Strive to be worthy of what is worthy. Act as if your ancestors and your God or gods looks down on you and judges you.

Strive to accomplish deeds and works that even the gods will look on in admiration. That when you get to the other side when you enter the pearly gate or cross the rainbow bridge, that you will be met with cheers and salutes, not derision and turned heads. Strive to live a worthy life and a worthy life is made up of daily worthy actions. Know that you will be judged one day and act as if it is true. Imagine your life played scene by scene to all those you respect and hold in high esteem. How would you live? How would you conduct yourself? What sorts of greatness would you aspire too?

What legacy will you leave? On this earth, the next, and eternity? What will your story be? What is your character? That is, who have you forged yourself to be at the core, and are you happy with that? Are you at least on the right path to join the honored dead one day? To be held as an example in deed? In how your life was lived? We don’t live for temporary gain, we live for the echoes of eternity. A great man’s deeds live on forever. Will you be known among the heroes? Among the true saints? Will you be among the honored, among the noble?

Questions that the warrior poet asks himself. Questions that make provoke ugly and harsh answers. But sometimes it is ugly and harsh answers that we need to get us going in the right direction. Sometimes ugly and harsh are the only things that can help and save us. Be honest with yourself. What does your life hold? What will happen when you go before the Creator, will you be met with a proud salute and a “You have done well” or turned back and a “I never knew you”? What will happen when you go before the Allfather?

That is up for you to decide. The warrior poet strives to be remembered through eternity as a hero. As one of the true nobles. As a true saint.

As a warrior poet.

One More Before We’re Done
