We live in uncertain times. I understand that has become sort of a buzzword or phrase now but it’s true. We live in times where change happens at a rapid rate. Where what’s on the horizon is old news before the blink of an eye. Because of this we have have our ears up and our eyes open to what’s happening around us as well as what the future holds for us.
Now is the time to get where you need to be because in the next few decades movement between places could become more and more restricted or just become economically impossible. Because of this you have to look now and what the future holds and if you’re set up to have the best future possible or if you’ll be swept under the tide like so many are and are going to be.
So how can you know if you’re setting yourself up for success and failure? What can you do to change this? And what are your options? What paradigms, meaning ways of looking at the world, are holding you back. With things changing as rapidly as they are having the mentality when it comes to economic interests and even geopolitical events just isn’t going to work.
You have to move beyond that, think laterally, and see the big picture.
A lot to cover so let’s dive in.
The Paths To Destruction Of Your Future
There are many ways to fail. There are many directions from which failure and destruction may come. We’ll outline some of the most common here so you can avoid them. We’ll cover three “areas” so to speak. Personal, economic, and geopolitical. Let’s start with personal. Personal failure is where you simply fail to make the most of your time and fail to develop the skills necessary to survive and thrive in this world. This is where self-improvement comes in.
Eating right, exercising, reading, working to cull bad habits and produce good habits. All of this has an effect on your mind, body, and spirit as everything is connected. Taking care of yourself is the first step to taking charge of your future and ensuring that you end up where you want to be. Failing to do so is guaranteed failure unless you have ultra rich parents and even then you’ll still end up failing when they pass and you guzzle their money away.
The next is economic. Maybe you’re healthy as can be physically, have a great success oriented mindset, are adaptable, and overall pretty smart but you’re working a dead end job, which is far more than fast food worker, most jobs are dead end jobs anymore. With the way prices are hiking and the crazy rate of inflation you’ll have to be what we’d call “rich” to have a chance at a somewhat decent life in most Western nations.
I’d say if a job can’t give you 120,000 dollars a year then it likely won’t be able to provide you with the life that you need. That may sound ridiculous at first glance and if you’re only fifty then this doesn’t apply. But we’re talking about long term here. 120,000 may sound like a lot now, though it really isn’t, but in the future it won’t be that much. And if you expect the salary of your job to keep up with cost of living, you’re dreaming. So many people’s future will be bleak because of cost of living and economic factors.
Making skills like sales, people, and soft skills all the more important. You’ll need to be “rich” to find a place to live, especially if you want to support a family safely in most places in the west. Of course there’s the option of leaving the west which still required money and many other factors as well. Don’t panic, I’m not saying you have to make 120,000 USD right away. I’m saying that does your career or path in live lead to increasing money or stagnate?
Then with have geopolitical factors. Where you live matters and don’t think because you live in a place like the United States that you are immune from this, matter of fact you’re probably more vulnerable than most. What does your nation, state, territory, country, etc look like in twenty five years. Because there’s very few places in the world that are going to be the same.
Alliances shift and change as do economic factors, demographics, alliances, power, and so much more. Very few places are stable anymore and are you living in the place that’s going to “blow up” next? Think about these things. Some are in for a dark future because they think everything will always be how it was yesterday or is today when that’s not the case. What does the future look like in your geographical location? Good? Bad? Do you need to move?
The Golden Future
There is no way to predict that your future is going to be great. All you can do is make wise decisions then enjoy the ride. We talked about factors that prevent most people from having a bright future but let’s take a second to set you up so your future has the best chance of being the best that it can be, given the world that we live in. First off are you taking care of yourself personally.
Are you working out, eating right, developing social skills, confidence, a healthy mindset, setting goals for yourself, culling the bad habits while encouraging the good and all of that? Because if you’re not then now is the time to start, truth be told most are already behind. Work hard on yourself as you would at your dream job. Your own self-development should be a high priority for you.
Next economically how are you doing? What’s your job? Is there a way to make more money or have more freedom at it? What’s your dream job? What’s the likelihood you could do your dream job? What leverage do you have? Never say you have no leverage as even having good people skills is good leverage. Speaking of which how are your sales/people/soft skills? Need working? Grab some books on the topic as, as far as money goes there no more important skills out there.
Finally what’s the geopolitical situation of your country? Will it get involved in WW3, that’s assuming WW3 hasn’t started by the time this hits publication but who knows. Is it stable economically? Population wise? Culturally wise? Demographically wise? Politically wise? These may seem like things you don’t need to think about or worry about but I assure you they absolutely are.
Get all of this in line and you set yourself up for the brightest future possible. That golden future that has existed only in your dreams, give yourself a chance to bring it to life.
