If You’re Going To Do The Carnivore Diet, Make Sure You Do This One Thing That’ll Make All The Difference

There are all sorts of diet out there today and they all work in that they’re better than the SAD diet or Standard American Diet, though I think SWD (Standard Western Diet) would be more appropriate anymore. Pretty much eating anything other than that is going to result in better health. So we have hundreds, if not thousands, of diets out there all of them “successful” in that they work better than what the person was doing before.

But just because something is more successful than what you were doing before does not mean it’s the best thing you can be doing. Long distance running is better for your health, at least in the short term, than sitting on the couch but that hardly means it’s something I’d recommend in the long run. Same with most diets. However there are ways of eating that I think are more manageable and realistic in the long term and that can provide long term benefits.

The biggest factor with these is the simplicity of them. For example I liked Paleo because it was pretty simple. Does the thing exist in nature? No? Then don’t eat it, simple as that. Most people could wrap their heads around it and it still allowed you hearty meals so you weren’t starving yourself. Carnivore is like that as well, even better in many ways. Me myself I don’t do strict carnivore but I eat a hell of a lot of meat and wanted to share some important facets of the diet and how to do it right.

Are Most People Doing Carnivore The “Wrong” Way?

What does “wrong” mean? Does it mean you won’t get healthier or won’t lose weight? No, it doesn’t mean either, at least not in this case. If it did then what I’m about to talk about wouldn’t be “wrong”. By wrong I mean not ideal, not the best way to do it, not the most efficient and effective way to do it. That’s what I mean. So anyways let’s talk about the “wrong” way to do carnivore. The wrong way to do carnivore is to focus on all meats the same and think eating any meat covers it.

For example I know people that’ll eat ground beef and ribeye and call it a day and that makes up the majority of their food intake. However this isn’t going to give your body what it needs. As amazing as ground beef and ribeye are they don’t have everything you need. I don’t think any one food does. Even when adding in eggs and things like raw milk that still won’t be enough on its own.

Looking To “Carnivore” History For Clues

When you look at “traditional” people who get most of their calories and nutrition from meat and do so while staying incredibly healthy you’ll notice a trend. They don’t focus on the muscle meats. Sure they eat them, they’re great, and there’s nothing wrong with them, but they don’t focus on them. They focus on the more fattier meats, not only do they focus on the more fattier meats but especially the organ meats. Without eating lots of organ meats I just don’t think you can do carnivore, or health in general, justice.

With just the muscle meats there’s a whole hell of a lot you’re going to be missing out on. And that’s going to show up in your health. Even with great things like eggs, which are nature’s multivitamin, and raw dairy products. You’re still going to want and need organ meats on top of that. They’re ridiculous in how much nutrition is crammed into so small a “package” so to speak. But let’s dive into more about organ meats.

Doing Carnivore The Right Way

So to do carnivore the right way organ meats are going to play a vital role in it. So what are organ meats? Organ meats that you can find in most stores include liver primarily with some kidneys and hearts sometimes available too. If you go to a butcher that knows what he’s doing then you can find all those mentioned above but also brains, sweetbreads (thymus gland and pancreas), tongues, and tripe. I’d also recommend things like necks, feet, knuckle joints and the like to make stock.

And then things like femur bones and the like to make broth. If you really want to do all of this right and have the best chance at success. Muscle meat is great but it’s not enough by itself. You need organs. Adding in stocks and broths from joints and bones is great too. You really should be consuming just about every inch of an animal for full vibrant health. So make sure to have plenty of the following

Organ meats, fatty meats, joints made into stock, bones made into broth, and of course you can have muscle meats too. Just mix it up. Throw some eggs, raw dairy, and fermented foods and that’s essentially my diet.

A Small Change But Makes A World Of Difference

It’s a small change but can make THE difference between having vibrant health on this diet and it not working very well for you. You need the organ meats they are stuffed ton of vitamins and minerals that you won’t get all you need from muscle meats alone. I’d also recommend that if you’re going to do a diet then educate yourself on it. There are three big books out on carnivore right now. Shawn Baker’s, Paul Saladino’s, and Judy Cho’s are all worth a read and are enlightening.

And if you’re doing this diet long term then you really should read all three of them. Three books for a lifetime of health is not that big of a deal, matter of fact it’s one of the best tradeoffs you’ll ever get. So if you’re serious about this thing and want to do it long term. Then do it right and do the proper research needed. Your health is never something to outsource to someone else or get lazy about. Educate yourself and reap the benefits for doing so. Come to think of it, that really applies to all areas of life now doesn’t it?
