I know that for many God is just an idea or something that doesn’t exist or does exist but is either a cruel lord or one that isn’t present. And I understand this sentiment and have thought it often myself. And when it comes to some versions of God I absolutely agree with it. Many conceptions of God could only be held by people who are either very ignorant and dumb or have lived very simple and easy lives (or some combination of both).
But that in and of itself does not mean that there isn’t something to this whole “God” thing and that it doesn’t matter for a man’s life. As a matter of fact this relation is the most important thing in a man’s life and when everything is burned away may very well be the only that truly ever really matters. But that’s a bit beyond this essay at hand where we will be discussing and looking at the importance of man’s relation to God, of your relation to God and why this matters.
I should also note that my idea of God is probably different than most and is something that I’ve wanted to expound upon for some time. To help clear up confusion as well as to help guide men to a more accurate view of existence and how this all works. There are two “Gods” that I will be discussing. The one I talk of when I speak of God the primal/cosmic God and then the moral/religious God that most think of when they think of God. This is a critical difference and is important to understand.
The Moral/Religious God
This is the God that most think of when they think of God. And this is the “God” that causes the most problems for people. I should note that this can take many forms. For example those who speak of “the universe” as a God or some other ephemeral energy are just as much in this camp as those that speak of a Christian or Muslim God. Likewise those that think they are beyond this or unique by following say Odin or Zeus fall into this camp as well.
That is not to say that this view of God is “bad” or completely wrong there are certainly good and accurate things to this view but it is this view that causes most of the problems and wrong thinking as well. While there certainly is such a thing as right and wrong and I’m not here to say that religions haven’t grasped truth. It’s going too far down this point of view that causes problems for many males.
And all religions tend this way. Sure certain ones (because they conquered and defeated the ones that came before) are more mired in this view and modernity but it applies to them all. Including the “I’m not religious just spiritual” view. And this is the view that I want to get away from or at least temper. Especially considering how morality changes with the time, when real morality is based on eternal truth and not legalism or control.
The Primal/Cosmic God
This is the God that I talk of when I speak of God. This is the God that values strength and wisdom. And how do we know this? Because life and nature shows this to be true. Likewise when I speak of something being of Satan/the devil though I am using Christian analogies (being the most familiar to most people) I’m speaking about something being against the cosmic and primal order. For example venerating weakness or perversion.
It is this God that has left hints and imprints as to how man is to live and created man with a specific purpose in mind. Nature, the cosmos, and existence itself has left clues as to how this is supposed to be. When I talk of good I’m speaking of good in the primal and cosmic sense not in the legalistic and moral sense. And it is this God that man must know and must understand.
It is this God that put that fire in your soul and that “song” in your heart. It is this God that is “true” and that when “followed” adds to your life and existence. Good things are of this God. Honor, strength, wisdom, and the like. Bad things are of the devil to this God perversion, weakness, foolishness, and the like. It is the devil counter to this God that rules our current world and age.
What This Means For You
It is the promise of something beyond and more that gives meaning and purpose to this existence and world. Sometimes I think the only honest atheist is one who has left this world behind by their own choosing. If one is honest (and has a soul) they will quickly realize that without further meaning this world has little to offer. The further you move through life the more important this conception of God becomes.
Once you realize that making more monies, banging more bitches, or whatever have you just isn’t fulfilling you need something more substantive to rely on. And when philosophies and religions fail you need to go beyond that. To the source of that which is good and that which ennobles man. And that is the primal and cosmic God. The God against the modern world.
Maybe this just confused you more and if that’s the case I apologize. I feel that this is an important topic and one that merits talking about. I think that it’s important for men to know that there is something beyond this world and that there is a primal and cosmic order behind all things. There is something beyond what you see around…and thank God for that.
