Go read the reviews of great business books and you’ll find plenty of one star reviews about how the book didn’t make them rich and therefore the advice in it sucks. Same with workout programs, and other things. They say that entrepreneur X is full of shit because they didn’t become a millionaire overnight by implementing their advice. Or personal trainer Y is shit because they didn’t become a fitness model in 20 days and so on and so forth. Now don’t get me wrong there is plenty of bullshit out there but that’s what the average person loves, not hates on.
One key piece of advice that I would always recommend for success is to look at what the average person does and says and then do the complete 180 opposite. Seriously in many ways this is the key to success. This is something I’ve noticed with business and entrepreneurship as well as things like fighting. Those that are least qualified to offer an opinion are always the ones that are spouting off the loudest and offering the most advice. Now granted say anything with enough confidence and the masses will believe and follow you, but we need to be better than that to succeed.
Getting Everything Right Doesn’t Matter Without This
I want you to imagine this. Let’s say you’re reading Arnold’s Encyclopedia Of Modern Body Building and you come across his workout and dietary recommendations. You’re eating the right amount of protein, carbs, and fats. You’re doing the right workouts and hitting the right muscles and putting in the right amount of effort. Then two weeks later you toss it all because you didn’t become a pro bodybuilder. Then you go on Amazon and leave a negative review of Arnold’s book stating “Another bullshit con artist, he only got that big with steroids anyways. Doesn’t work, don’t waste you’re money”.
Then people who are affected by random reviews online (we call them dumb people) don’t buy Arnold’s book and miss out on the knowledge contained within. So we have a couple of things we’re looking at here. One how hopeless the average person is and how they’ll never be successful. But more important let’s look at how you can do everything right and never get the results that you want. But if you’re smart you won’t throw in the towel says “hurr durr it’s all bullshit” and instead take a second to think about this.
Right Actions + Time = Results
You could be instructed by Mike Tyson, the ghosts of Muhammad Ali, Jack Dempsey, and Gentleman Jim Corbett in boxing for a solid month and I’d still be a better boxer than you. Why? Because I’ve put in more time. You see right actions (even getting them exactly right) don’t matter without time. Another great example of this is applying Dan Kennedy and the No B.S. Inner Circle’s advice (if you want to be rich through entrepreneurship you need to sign up for this). After a year of applying his advice I was a little richer but not by a huge amount.
I was satisfied as I hadn’t bought anything that I hadn’t gotten at least 2-3x money from but nothing extraordinary. However after keeping it up, adjusting things, making them unique for my businesses, and reading and listening to more and more from them (which helped put minor pieces together, which as any boxer knows can be the thing that makes the difference). And eventually started making real money from the advice, money that I would not have made otherwise had I not stuck with it. However most people give up after 3 months says “I’m not a bajillionaire therefore Dan Kennedy is full of shit and a scam artist”.
Nothing Worth It Comes Easy
My point with all of this is that without time and dedication you’re never going to get the results that you want. This doesn’t mean don’t be aware of bullshit and scam artists because they’re out there but rather to understand that even when things are done 100% right they still take time and dedication to create the results that you want. Think of it like farming. Even when planting the rows perfectly, watering and taking care of them perfectly, it still takes time to produce the crops that you want. Same with anything else.
