I don’t know if “barbarian spirit” is necessarily the right word here, I would use “testosterone” but I don’t think that encapsulates what I’m talking about entirely either. Put simply there is no single definition that is going to work completely here so we’ll go with “barbarian spirit”. Now by barbarian spirit I don’t mean barbarian as in stupidity, random violence, or things of that nature. That’s barbarian in the negative term.
I’m talking about something different. A spirit of standing somewhere close to the natural order and gaining power from it. Men with steel in their arms and fire in their veins absolutely, but also men who still have room for wonder in their hearts and fire in their minds as well. Maybe it sounds like I’m changing “barbarian” to be my own meaning and that’s probably true to some extent.
But I think we can all understand the basics of what I’m getting at here. It’s no real secret that this spirit has largely gone from our world, not completely, as nothing can really be eliminated completely, or at least it’s very hard, but it getting pretty close to extinction. The fire darkens and the world is on the verge of being swallowed by that darkness. Those left with fires burning are few and far inbetween.
What Happened?
Our society and world is very dysgenic. Now when I first say that people automatically assume that next I’m going to be talking about euthanizing cripples and things of that nature. But that’s not at all what I’m talking about. Rather what I mean is we reward dysgenics things. We reward weakness, stupidity, and sloth all because it makes certain people more power and gives other people more power. With those two groups overlapping a lot.
We have everyone from major corporations to governments to media and more promoting weakness and stupidity. Whatever is dysgenic, whatever is unhealthy, what has been proven not to work through time it is promoted. Both strength and wisdom are seen as evils. This is in politics yes, but both “left” and “right” participate in this and push this destruction forward, both of them, and in equal measures.
But here’s the thing normal people, normal moms, dads, and others have allowed this to happen and have allowed this to continue. Not that we should put the blame with other people but just blaming corporations or governments leaves out a large part of why this is all happening. Its easier to let your child do whatever then to discipline them. Its easier to outsource parenting to the schools and TV then it is to do it yourself and so on and so forth.
This goes beyond parents too, to everyone, including me. We’ve all let this happen because most of these changes and such are proposed to our lesser natures. They appeal to sloth, greed, lust, and everything else to be pushed through.
What’s The Effect?
Now we live in a world that is essentially turned upside down. Criminals are let free, upstanding citizens are jailed. Sickness is health and health sickness. Strength is evil and weakness glory. Wisdom is awful and foolishness praise worthy. War is peace. And so on and so forth. A lot of people want to blame this, that, or the other for these things happening, but like everything I think the first step is looking at ourselves.
What have we done to contribute to this and what do we still do that contributes to this? Change starts with you. You serve as an example of what is good and true in this world. You life is a testament to your beliefs. When you look around and see nothing beautiful, nothing praise worthy, then it is up to you to create those things. Whether that’s works of art, children, contributions to the community, or to just serve as a living example, which we all are anyways.
There is widespread crime, disease, and many other maladies that are sweeping through the world. A cancer has been globalized and it threatens to engulf the planet. That might sound a bit dramatic and I won’t lie, it is, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t truth it, that doesn’t mean that it isn’t happening. And that doesn’t mean that it’s all happening at an accelerated pace.
What’s To Be Done
But even with that all being true that doesn’t mean that destruction is inevitably. The black pill is just as foolish and limiting as the stick your head in the sand hill (which granted the black pill is essentially a form of). I’m not saying things aren’t bleak or hard or any of that. I’m just saying that things aren’t hopeless. So what’s to be done? Well most people start with wanting to change the world. While that’s all well and good, it’s not really possible.
Even families that own the majority of the worlds wealth can’t change it willy-nilly to whatever they want, though they try. And if they can’t do it with billions of dollars and the presidents and prime ministers of nations in their pocket then neither can you. However what you can do is change yourself and by changing yourself, affect the world around you in a positive way. Dive yourself into self-improvement, learning, and wisdom. Become stronger, smarter, and wiser.
Then you can work on your community, but self-mastery comes first. You can work and make changes in your community, in your family, and most of all yourself. There is nothing more powerful than making yourself a living example. You want people to follow you and believe in you? Then hold yourself to your ideals, even when you don’t want too. It’s hard but produces the best fruit.
Hope For The World
Or at least for small parts of it. Don’t worry about the majority they always have been and always will be screwed by those stronger and smarter than them. Most humans are essentially prey. I don’t say that as “Hey yeah most humans are prey so take advantage of them.” rather I state it simply as a fact. I wouldn’t recommend taking advantage of people because that comes back on you in its own ways. I don’t think that’s the best way to a fulfilled life.
Goes back to the whole dirty hands and clean soul thing. But that’s a topic for another time. Work on yourself first and foremost because overall you’re the only person that you have control over. Then look to make an impact locally on your community, all great leaders have started that way. Keep reading, learning, and growing. Gain knowledge and keep seeking.
Because those who seek shall eventually find.
