We are living a very unnatural existence. And this isn’t all bad. For example I’m quite happy that I don’t have to run ten or twenty miles to see friends or that I don’t have to collect water from rain or a well that’s quite a ways off. I love the fact that I can make money from the internet instead of sweating it out in some factory or being stuck like an insect in a cube for hours on end slowing eroding away my life. There are many many things about the modern world that I love and am thankful for.
But that does not mean that it isn’t without it’s problems, it’s many many problems. So much of what we see as far as problems for the average man goes stems from this unnatural way of living. For example things like depression, lack of self-confidence and self-esteem, trouble attracting the opposite sex, and a whole host of other things would be solved by living in accordance with one’s own nature.
We’re Not Insects
At least not yet and at least not you reading this. When men try to live as insects all sorts of negative things happen. Negative things happen to women as well but it is far more pronounced for men. I see so many males who walk around in a sort of haze or funk in the modern world. And this takes place from grade school to literally 60 year old guys in the workplace. The younger they are the more pronounced this seems to be.
And while there are certainly things that contribute to this such as porn, weed, and other numbing agents I think it also goes beyond that. Although getting rid of that crap is a huge first step in the right direction. It’s not just about not doing something but also about doing something and living in a certain way. And this way is not going to be the exact same for every man as we’re all programmed the same but with slight variations that make us who we are.
For example for some of us life without being able to play an instrument is hell on earth for others not being able to fight is the same fate and for others not being able to design or strategize or write or something else is hell on earth for them. We’re all a little bit different and need certain things to thrive. For example we all need some freedom to live in accordance with our souls and principles and without this freedom not much else is going to matter much.
Closer To Nature Closer To Healing
At first this mind sound like a hippy-dippy statement but it’s anything but. Nature is violent, brutal, and primal. The hippies and new agers are the most modernized people on earth. Something I’ve noticed is that when guys do things like go camping (real camping), start to box or do BJJ (or other martial arts I assume), go hunt, or anything like those they feel something that they haven’t felt in a long time. I’ve seen corporate guys start smiling ridiculously and just start laughing at how much they loved it (even when bruised and sweating like a hog).
It’s because they’re reconnecting with who they are and their primal natures. I’m not sure if stuff like this happens when playing an instrument, writing, or painting but imagine that for some guys that’s going to be very healing. I’ve also seen kids with low self-esteem once they started reconnecting with who they are find a sense of self and strength they never knew that they had.
Again closer to nature closer to healing. This is so much more effective than trying to self-help or “pickup” type stuff like affirmations or that stuff. I’m not saying there’s no value in that because there is but it’s sort of like using a band aid to cover a gushing wound. You have to fix the problem at the source and then everything else falls into place so much more easily. Confidence skyrockets, depression clears up, attract more women then they know what to do with, are happy as the default emotion (not giddy but more calm and in control happy), and so on and so forth. All from living in accordance with nature.
Don’t Lose Your Humanity
While the modern world offers many good things, there is a whole lot of bad there as well. In many ways it’s accepting a poison that trades convenience for life force. A dangerous trade to make too much. So be careful to not get too plugged in or you may find you start developing all sorts of issues and if you see those with many issues offer to help them out and show them the way out of the modern malaise and back to full health and everything that comes with it.
