Why Real Men Are Never Haters

We’ve all seen them. Sniveling in their corners, throwing rocks from the arena stands, hiding behind anonymity while they throw their barbs. Haters, why I heartily recommend that you get some, I also want you to understand that real men are never haters. Now this doesn’t mean that real men never hate, far from it, but rather that real men are never haters. So first let me explain what exactly a hater is.

A hater is someone who having accomplished little to nothing for themselves decides to try to tear down the hard work and efforts of others. Someone who is defined by being resentful of the success of others. Now granted this doesn’t mean if someone has wronged you and is successful for it that by hating them that makes you a hater. Rather again its simply someone who rationalizes their own sense of insecurity and weakness by tearing down others.

You see it all the time. One star Amazon reviews, random YouTube comments, smack talked when you’re out of earshot, and so on and so forth. Those who do nothing but hate on those who strive. I’ve spoken before on how negativity has no place in a man’s life and this is similar to it. A man who is defined by simply tearing down and hating others reeks of weakness.

Real Men Are Doers, The Men In The Arena

While I know mustachio testosterone deficient hipsters idolize this guy Theodore Roosevelt actually had some good things o say, here’s a quote of his on haters.

“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”

A very powerful quote with lots of good meaning in it. A man’s place is in the arena striving, fighting, and yes failing but pushing forward and giving all that he has. Not on the sidelines “pointing out how the strong man stumbles”. How many males of our current society are in the arena and how many are on the sidelines? How many of those on the sidelines do not realize their snide remarks and words are tolerated simply because of the niceness and control of those in the arena?

If You Find Yourself Hating

Then you need to stop it right away, same with complaining. Either step up and do something about it or shut up. Tearing down others only reveals your own insecurities and weaknesses. I see so many males gather in little groups of haters tearing others down so they don’t have to look at their own weakness and insecurity. Like a bunch of weasels snickering about the lion out of earshot. And then these same males wonder why their losers in all facets of life.

Look, don’t hate on others, focus on busting your ass and working towards greatness. When you do this and leave the weasel circle you’ll become part of their derision but so what? You’ll start your path to becoming something greater. I saw this play out a lot in high school both attending and teaching but the sad thing is it really doesn’t go away in adult life either. Whether 18 or 28 or 58 winners are still winners and losers are still losers, that doesn’t change.

However you can change (for better or for worse) what groups that you belong to. The choice is always yours. My advice is to be the man and not the hater. Haters are going to hate, that’s what they do and that’s all that they do. Same with toxic people. Let them hate from their corners while your on the path to greatness and make sure you never find yourself among their number.
