Man was not made to be a domesticated creature. He was meant to be wild, free, and savage. I’m not saying to be a unkempt bum but rather to retain that masculine essence. There are many forces out there now that either numb men or domesticate them. I’ve seen even strong men taken and slowly but surely lose their spirit. Maybe it starts with gaining a couple of pounds, maybe they think “Hey I’m not a kid anymore I’ll never be fighting anyone so why do I need this martial arts stuff?”, they think “I live in a nice neighborhood why do I need a gun much less know how to use one?”.
And slowly but surely their spirit is ebbed and destroyed. And I’m not even talking about the weed, porn, beer, video games, watching sports, and other agents that numb many men, I’m simply talking about modern life. Combine the two and you have a very powerful destructive force that has separated more men from their spirits than just about anything else out there. Even things like monetary success or feelings of security can cause this. Success has destroyed a number of men and not just because they get lost in booze, women, drugs, and sex. Some get destroyed in a much less dramatic fashion.
Snuffing Of The Flame
This is something that many men must fight and contend with their entire lives. Others in their life and the environment itself snuffing out their masculine spirit if they allow it. I’ve seen it start with plenty of mothers who try to neuter their boys to make them what they want them to be instead of what the boy wants to be. There seems to be more and more overbearing mothers who snuff the life and spirit out of their son while their pathetic husbands sit by and do nothing about it. Then many of these men end up with women who try to snuff the flame as well and then will do so to their children as well. Obviously this isn’t all or probably even most mothers or wives (at least I hope it’s not most) but there is a sizable portion out there.
And it’s not just from women in a man’s life but also from jobs and the modern working environment. I encourage every man to become an entrepreneur but that’s not always possible for everyone so for those that don’t or can’t do it I highly recommend learning a trade and thereby avoiding at least some portion of the stifling and soul killing aspects of the modern corporate or bureaucratic environment (which more and more are becoming one and the same). Things like military (though less and less), LEO, fire fighting, and things of that nature have worked out well for my buddies.
Keep The Savage Alive
There are many ways to do this. Weight training and combat training are good starts same with things like hunting and fishing (why you see so many men doing all of these activities) but I think you need something a little deeper than all of these (though you should be doing at least some of them regardless). Also a lot of men need to find their balls and not allow others to walk all over them. Others can only do to you what you let them, have some backbone, and learn to say “no” to everyone that needs to be said “no” to. But anyways back to what I was getting at.
Beyond all of this you need brothers. Notice how in the modern world (at least the for the yuppies but this is spreading) that males sit alone with no friends and the wife stays connected to all of hers. This is not at all how a man is supposed to live. You need brothers and not just to hang around be lame with like the abortion that is the “man cave” but rather to hold you to a high standard and put pressure on you to better yourself and not be a pussy (we all need a push every now and then, even the best of us). You have to keep the savage and the spirit alive within you.
Summary
Truth be told this is just the bare basics. In theory you shouldn’t have let yourself become domesticated in the first place but hey it’s something that can sneak up on anyone, even the once strong. You have to keep your edge and keep your eyes wide open. Be careful around comfort because comfort will kill you, slowly but surely. One great thing about having close knit strong brothers is they’ll call you out when you step out. Same with your friends if you see one get weak or start to stumble point it out to him and let him know. And never allow the fire within you to be snuffed out and never allow yourself to becomes domesticated. Stay savage, and stay a man.
