I think one of the most important things that a man can do is take time to cultivate his masculine energy. There are many ways to do this, this isn’t the first time I’ve covered this topic before but I wanted to talk about 3 of the things that I’ve been doing recently that have certainly helped. The first time I heard about cultivating masculine energy was with Napoleon Hill’s Think & Grow Rich where he talks about it from a sexual point of view. He talks about how great men have abstained from sex for predetermined periods of time to focus entirely on their craft or work and have reached great break through.
I’ve talked about this before with cutting out porn and how your seed should be saved for beautiful women and making babies, not wasted on pixels. But there are other ways to cultivate your masculine energy as well. Some of the best I’ll outline here, if there’s any more that you can think of go ahead and add them into the comments. Alright let’s get started.
Getting Out Alone In Nature
I think one of the best things that a man can do to reconnect with himself, his masculinity, and his primal nature is get out in nature alone. I would say with a group of men might be better, but they’d have to be vetted and strong men. And by get out in nature I don’t mean go to a local park where they have a “camp ground” and sit around a camp fire while you play with your phone. I mean actually get out somewhere where you can get lost and just roam around and where there aren’t going to be other people. Obviously some skills are required to do this safely but the point remains.
Even if you just have some property with your own quiet place to go for a couple of hours that can work too. Just get away from the world and away from people and just be with yourself, God, and nature. Even a couple hours can do wonders and help you “reset”. If you don’t have property and don’t have a place nearby that you can go then do the best with what you have. A park is better than nothing, especially if it’s large and there are secluded spots. Do what you can with what you have.
Immerse Yourself In Myth & Legend
I think this is one of the most undervalued things. I think one of the reasons that old myths and heroes are made fun of, subverted, or ignored is because of their great power. For example Alexander The Great who conquered most of the known world by age 30 was inspired by Achilles of Homer’s Iliad and was said to have kept a copy of it under his pillow while he slept. He used the legend of Achilles to spur himself to greatness never before seen by a man of his age and time. There is more power in the world of myth and legend then there is in the world of reality, and the smart know this.
You should immerse yourself in myth and legend from time to time, find a hero or stories that inspire you. Whether it’s of an ancient source such as the Greek tales or the Icelandic sagas or if it’s modern tales, biographies of great men can work as well. Let the deeds of the legends and men that came before you inspire you to make your mark on this world. Don’t underestimate the great power that is in legend and myth. There is a reason that every society has them.
Physical Training
A couple of stipulations here. The training itself doesn’t matter as much as the method in which it is done. Let me explain. Whether it’s bodybuilding, powerlifting, or combat training of some time, all will work. But here’s the thing. They can’t be done with women and can’t be done in a McGym or a McDojo. So if you have some hole in the wall boxing club that’s men only or the same with a gym that by all means go for it but as these are getting more and more rare (if not illegal) here’s what I suggest.
Find a couple serious guys (could be hard) and form your own gym whether it’s boxing, bodybuilding, powerlifting, or whatever where you can all contribute to and keep for yourselves and also where you can push and strengthen each other and of course is a male only environment. Most likely you’ll have to train by yourself, not as big of a deal with bodybuilding or powerlifting but with combat will eventually have to find at least one dedicated person to train with.
Summary
These aren’t the only ways to cultivate your masculine energy but they are some of the best. If you have others that weren’t listed here then add them in the comments.
