There is plenty of money to be made online, if I said otherwise I’d be lying. I don’t think that the self-improvement “sphere” masculine or mainstream is a great choice but nevertheless there is plenty of money to be made online. And because of this many are chasing the dream of working at home in their underpants. A dream that the “pandemic” made reality for a lot of people anyways.
However I understand the appeal, I too chased after this dream. However I would caution others from chasing after it, and let me explain why. Now, I don’t caution others from pursuing it because I don’t want competition or anything like that but rather life experience has shown me that there are much better paths that a man who wants to make his money and have his freedom should pursue.
So I want to talk about the two things that beat the pants off of “online entrepreneurship” as well as the limits of online entrepreneurship and the reality of it. Also I should add in that I think both these options are better than copyrighting as well and as I have discovered transfer very well when you move. But we’ll get more into that later.
The Reality Of Online Entrepreneurship
While there is a lot of money to be made in online entrepreneurship, which is a very broad term, that does not therefore mean that there’s a lot of people making money in the field. Now what does that mean? Well first off the 80/20 rule where 20% of the companies are making 80% of the money but it goes beyond that. So first off by online entrepreneurship I’m essentially saying a job that you run from a computer, which essentially will be information products or services like coaching, the whole “laptop millionaire” thing.
First off understand that very few people actually make their money like this. More people make their money telling people how to make their money like this than actually making their money like this. Meaning more people make money by teaching “laptop entrepreneur” courses, coaching, and the like than actually make money being laptop millionaires who sell information products not related to the same field.
In a way it’s almost like a multilevel marketing scheme, just doesn’t have a centralized “brand” its under. Now I’m not saying you can’t make money this way I just don’t think it’s effective or efficient at all. And if you think used car salesman are bad, just wait until you meet online marketer salesmen. However if you are interested in this field then pick up Russell Brunson’s DotCom Secrets and his other material.
To me it’s can sound a little scammy at times but its certainly best business practices when it comes to all. It’ll lay out the reality of the field and is an enlightening read.
Job That’s Better Than Online Entrepreneurship For Making Money Fast #1 – Commission Sales
So I’ve talked a lot about sales over the years and have said again and again that high ticket item sales such as cars, RVs, boats, and the like, a huge market in the states but still viable markets elsewhere. However I’m going to expand that to most things that are commissioned base, like insurance and the like. The important part is that you are paid a commission and that it’s not a super low ticket item. Like 20$ makeup or supplements.
So no multi-level marketing schemes, though that can be great to do in say high school to learn sales, and I say no MLMs for more reasons than just the low ticket price. But any “legitimate” thing that pays you on commission can be used as a vehicle to “fast” wealth. Fast is a relative term by the way there is no such thing as get rich quick, though there is such a thing as get rich efficiently and/or effectively. And commission is a great way to do it.
Cars, boats, RVs, real estate, really anything with a motor, insurance, again lots of options here. So even if you can’t do boat, RV, or car there are still plenty of options for you. Do research on this, don’t get into MLMs, and learn all that you can about success and sales. That’s another thing, I say sales are good when you make a in depth study of sales, when you try to get your Ph.D in sales through self-teaching.
Sales in and of itself is just like any other job if you do nothing. If you do nothing you’ll get nothing. But I don’t have to tell you that.
Another thing is while a sales job is technically not “location independent” with a sales job you can afford to move and pretty much everywhere in the world has a place you can sell things from, whether a dealership or insurance or whatever. Making this more location independent than you’d at first think.
Job That’s Better Than Online Entrepreneurship For Making Money Fast #2 – Trade Jobs
I recently swung back down by my hometown and talked to some old friends and family. It’d been awhile since I’d been so it was nice to visit. I was talking with a few family members and their spouses and they were talking about how they all had so many jobs that they had to turn people down and that was even with raising their prices. What did they do? Well one was a plumber, one a carpenter, and another did concrete.
And they were all making money hand over fist. Now granted right now we’re in a bit of a boom with some of this stuff in some ways but still this wasn’t necessarily a one off thing, it’s been this way for awhile and doesn’t show signs of changing. If you wanted to make money and asked me if I should go into a trade school or get a STEM degree I’d say trade school almost every time.
There’s a lot of risks with STEM that aren’t talked about, you can learn more about my thoughts here, not that trades don’t come with risks because all jobs do but I think trade is a better option. You have more control over your salary, you have a valuable skill to have in life, and you can work through more channels than most STEM jobs will give you.
Another thing about trades. One would say “Oh they’re location dependent” but while you will have to take a cut, temporarily, all places in the civilized world need plumbers, electricians, and the like. So I’d say you’re more location independent than you’d think at first.
Nothing Wrong With A Time Clock
Now I say this as someone who’s a copywriter. I think copywriting is a viable job and certainly legitimate still, however it’s also one of those fields that’s getting more and more clogged, though granted that could be said of literally every field with population increases, but that’s another topic. Understand this.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with going in and “punching a timeclock” if that timeclock is a effective and efficient money making machine. Does that make sense? A plumber making 6 figures is one hundred times more successful than the online entrepreneur making 20k a year but “working from home” or whatever.
Don’t underestimate the value of a “real job”.
