Why You Should Do Daily PT

There is something to be said for doing something daily. Regardless if it’s writing, reading, or physical training doing something daily is a great way to instill discipline, good habits, and make your life better. As a matter of fact daily practices and habits are essential what The Primer is all about. It’s your daily habits that determine the quality of your life. It seems like such a simple and obvious thing yet I guarantee if you took one week and wrote down everything you did daily you’d be surprised how much time you waste and how much is spent on thing that are bad for you.

TV, porn, bickering on the internet, social media, drama, and all sorts of nonsense that add nothing to your life and only takes away. But anyways back to daily physical training. We all know that working out is good for you no surprise there but what about working out every day. Taking no rest days and not doing it for sheer aesthetics but doing it for other reasons? Here I am going to talk about why physical training should be part of your day to day routine.

Mental

There is something mental about doing something unpleasant day in and day out that’s good for you. Whether it’s cold showers, getting up before the sun, or do some type of physical training daily it makes you feel good. While technically staying up an hour later is just as effective as to getting work done as is getting up an hour earlier. The getting up an hour earlier gives you a mental boost that the staying up an hour later does not. Same with taking a cold shower instead a warm up. It gives you a mental boost.

While the cold shower has some other benefits overall this is about overcoming inertia. It’s fighting against mental gravity and becoming stronger because of it. Anyone can stay up an hour later. Anyone can take a rest day. But to fight against what you want to do and do something you don’t even if there’s no obvious benefit is rewarding on it’s own and builds mental strength in you. Sometimes it might even be better for you to take a day off but instead you go and get after it you’re building strength in your mind.

Discipline

An undisciplined body reflects an undisciplined mind. Daily physical training will build discipline in you like nothing else. Especially if you have your physical training first thing in the morning. Regardless if it’s a run, a set routine you do daily, or your typical workout. Getting out there and getting after it will build discipline. Eventually it will become a habit and you’ll have to make it harder to keep building that same amount of discipline. You see building discipline is more than just doing something every day.

Working out can eventually become a habit where it doesn’t require much effort to do daily and at that point you have to make it harder or unpleasant in some way to keep the discipline building going. However up until that point working out daily is a great discipline builder. Remember it’s all about working against inertia to build discipline.

Health

This benefit is rather obvious but deserves mentioning nevertheless. Obviously doing daily physical training is going to be good for your health. It’ll keep things running smoothly, help you stay trim, and make sure your muscle mass doesn’t get too low. When you look at the average person it’s obvious that on a day to day basis that they are not getting up and moving. Our society has progressed to the point where you can survive without having to do any physical labor of any kind.

However this has a very negative effect on the body. Daily physical training might not turn you into a bodybuilder but it’ll make sure you look decent and are capable of handling the most basic of physical tasks. Something that you should be able to handle anyways. Daily physical training will keep you sharp and it will keep you trim. It will keep you performing at levels that you should be.

Summary

Overall there are many different reasons that you should include some type of physical training daily. Even if on your “rest days” you simply take a ride on your bike, go for a hike, or take a swim. Just get your body moving and in motion every day. Hold yourself to it don’t let yourself slip just because you’re on vacation, had a rough day, or any other reason. After all one of the major benefits of doing physical training everyday is building discipline.
