Doubt. Doubt has made wise men fools, strong men weak, and sure things crumble. Doubt is an infectious disease of the mind that once in it can destroy even the strongest of mental structures. When a man doubts himself he limits himself greatly. Never doubt yourself. By doubting yourself you are hampering your progress and development. It would be just as logical to break your own leg. You have likely been told by others that doubt is good and that doubt keeps you grounded. But those others were lying to you and do not have your best interest in heart and if they did then they are fools who should not be listened too.
Doubt has been talked about from the greats from all walks of life. Henry Ford famously said “If you think you can do a thing or you think you can’t, you’re right” and the Bible states “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen.”. Throughout time by all who have achieved anything they had to master their mind and defeat their doubts. You should never doubt yourself and I am going to explain why.
Doubt Makes You Lose Out On The Good You Have
Say you have a goal in sight. Let’s say its bench pressing two hundred and twenty five pounds. Now let’s say you hit two hundred and five pounds the week before and it went up no problem. Now you go to hit two twenty five. You lie down on the bench and put your hands on the bar. You lift off and have it extended above you. You lower it and all is going well. The bar touches your chest and your prepare to push up but then something pops into your mind. You can’t do this you think this is two hundred and twenty five pounds. You’re not supposed to be able to lift this yet and before you know it you spotters are pulling the weight off of you.
You had it, but your doubts made you lose it. If your mind is working against you you will not be able to accomplish much if anything. When you doubt yourself you lose out on things that are firmly within your grasp. Maybe it’s a job promotion, a girl who wants you to take her home, a chance to make more money, an opportunity to experience something new, or a million other things. Doubt makes you lose out on that which is already in your grasp. This is one of the primary reasons to never doubt yourself.
Doubt Has No Place In A Man’s Mind
Much like weakness has no place in a man’s life nor does doubt have any place in his mind. It is against everything that a man would try to accomplish. It would be like eating your meals with a side of poison everyday. Doubt does not make you a smarter person as some would have you believe. Doubting yourself does you no good. If you are going to make a mistake the best thing to do is make it while being honest and moving forward. It’s better to make a mistake at one hundred miles per hour than to sit around and think things over for hours. You should take risks and move forward.
What I am saying is that even if you are hesitant and not one hundred percent sure about something, doubt still isn’t going to help you. But making a decision and being decisive will. Doubt always harms you, especially when you doubt yourself. Never doubt yourself. When you approach a beautiful woman assume she wants you, never doubt yourself. When you start a new business, assume it’s going to make you millions, never doubt yourself. When you meet a new group of people assume they will love and if they don’t it’s their problem, never doubt yourself.
Many assume if they stop doubting themselves they will become reckless but nothing could be further from the truth. When you don’t doubt yourself you allow yourself to use all of your abilities and don’t limit yourself. Though you will move at a fast pace you will have more control. For example a pilot flying a jet has more control than a passenger sitting on a bus even though the jet is going much faster. Getting rid of your doubts gives you control over your mind instead of being a passenger on the bus of average, the bus of doubt. Never doubt yourself.
Summary
The point I want you to take from this is to never doubt yourself under any circumstances. Remember the words from the Bible as well as from the great industrialist. Doubt is often the deciding factor in whether you attain something or not. If you doubt you can do a thing than you will not do it, but if you have the belief that you can do a thing and you can do it. It sounds simple and that’s because it is. Believe in yourself and never doubt yourself and you will go further than you ever thought possible. Others will try to throw doubt in your path because they live with doubt and don’t like to see others break from the cage. Ignore them and never doubt yourself. Do that and you’ll achieve what you want.
