The Importance Of Going To The Source

I recently bought Dan Kennedy’s The Best Of Dan Kennedy which is essentially a collection of the No B.S. Audio transcripts and newsletters from 1999 through somewhere in the 2000’s. Anyways I downloaded it to my phone and have been slowly but surely working through them all. And in addition to this I recently bought some very old Dan Kennedy marketing CDs for a couple bucks off e-bay. Why am I telling you all of this, well a couple of reasons.

First off yeah there are tons of great marketing insights that I’ll be sharing later but more important I’ve been noticing a trend. Not sure if I said this before but for masculinity and “picking up girls” advice the manosphere/red pill can’t really be beat but when it comes to marketing, sales, and copywriting being honest that manosphere/red pill/masculine self development side of the internet is second tier at best.

Again why does this matter? Alright so something I noticed when combing through these old archives and listening to these tapes that I believe were originally released on a cassettes and may very likely be older than me. But anyways I kept hearing certain names pop up that we’d be familiar with. Big names that inspires lots of people that in turn inspired those who are popular now.

Go To The Source

For exampe guys like Eben Pagan (David DeAngelo) and Ross Jeffries were talked about and how they used Dan Kennedy’s marketing to get ahead and dominate their fields. They talked about how they set up their lead generation and marketing to make money from men who were desperate to meet women. It’s funny because you’ll here gurus talk about these guys and push some of their advice when a good portion of their advice was given for marketing purposes and not because it actually worked.

Think about it. Imagine a guy telling you “Hey work out 6 times a week, eat a clean diet, get your testosterone up, and stop being a pussy and you’ll get girls” versus “Hey just pay me 200$ and I’ll give you these hocus pocus magical words that’ll drop the panties of every woman”. Which one is going to sell more? And this isn’t just the dating field but there are plenty of other names in plenty of other fields that we’d all recognize. And no the red pill/manosphere is not exempt from this.

Two Points

Same with recycled and rehashed marketing advice spouted by all the internet millionaire huckster wannabes. Don’t get me wrong all my marketing advice has been said other places in better ways but I try to be upfront about anything that can help you make money because it’s helped me make money. But at the same time I have no email list, no acension, and no big money makers. My site is set up to inform not to make money. Anyway my first major point with poining this all out is go to the source. Stop following a follower and go to where the river comes from.

In marketing it’s people like Dan Kennedy. Sure everyone adapts and changes their own thing to their own generation and we all stand on the shoulders on giants but the further you can go to the source the better off you’ll be. Want marketing advice go to Dan Kennedy. Want powerlifting advice go to Louie Simmons. Want body building advice pick up Arnold’s old Encyclopedia of Bodybuilding. And so on and so forth.

My other point is about how essential it is to learn marketing so you can avoid the hucksters that saturate every niche out there. Not that I blame them as there is money to be made. Don’t follow the guy with the fancy website, pop ups galore, and all of that other crap. Go to the source that that guy is taking from. And then go to the source that the source is taking from and so on and so forth. The further back you go the better you’ll be.

Be The Pied Piper Not The Rat

Or at least have the ability to be the pied piper which will give you resistance to other pied pipers. Also I’m not saying because someone is good at sales and marketing that they’re automatically taking advantage of people, not at all. Just for every honest guy out there you have 3 charlatans who are just as good at sales and marketing and therefore just as big. Learn to dintinguish between the two and learn to go to the source.
