Greatness Is A Choice

One harsh truth that many people have trouble coming to terms with is that their life, and everything about it is their choice. Meaning that those who are great choose greatness and those who have failed choose failure. People like to think that everything happens outside of their sphere of influence. They like to believe this because it abdicates them from responsibility for their life. They can blame others and play the victim never having to worry about looking themselves in the mirror and knowing it was all on them.

Well I’m here to tell you that its all on you. Everything is on you. The money you make, the women you sleep with, the quality of life that you live. It’s all on you and because of you. Excuses are worthless and you do yourself no good by allowing yourself to have them. If you want greatness then you must choose greatness. To do this you must take responsibility for your life and your actions. You must act against inertia to form your own path. You cannot drift along on the current hoping it’ll take you where you want to go (hint: it never does).

Daily Actions

Greatness is causes by daily actions. While most believe that success is a sudden great thing like an atomic explosion the fact of the matter is success has more in common with a stream carving a canyon (a analogy you’ll see me use often). Through constant motion over long periods of time it makes its path. Not through sudden force but rather constant movement day in and day out it carves its path. By not relenting and never losing its energy and drive the stream breaks down the much harder and stronger rock.

You can do the same thing. Through constant action over a long period of time you will achieve greatness. If you want a daily plan to so then buy The Primer it’ll give you more than enough information (not to mention an in depth plan) to get on the right track. What separates the successful from the unsuccessful is how they spend their time and what they spend their time doing. For example I spent my last weekend formatting books, writing five articles, networking for some guest posts, and writing some copy for a client while most of the people I know got drunk or “relaxed”.

Choose Greatness

What those people fail to realize is that they have the same choice that I do to choose greatness. To read a book, hit the gym, or work on your business instead of watching TV, whacking off to porn, or smoking weed. To build a better life, mind, and body instead of tear down those things. It’s a decision that every human being makes day in and day out. They wake up with the choice to either choose greatness or to let themselves fall to the wayside and into mediocrity. To strive to be a one percenter or to fall to the rank of the masses.

Every moment of everyday you are deciding. Just like every thought ends up making our minds so does every action end up making our lives. You have to dedicate yourself to your goals, you cannot rely on motivation alone. Discipline is what will pull you through and get you to the end. For example is it motivation or discipline that forces you to grind out those last reps when you’re tired, sore, and you just want to go home? It’s discipline, discipline will lead you to greatness and keep you on the path.

Here’s The Key

Alright so here is the key between choosing greatness or mediocrity everyday. To choose greatness you force yourself to do the things you have to do to choose mediocrity you choose the things you want to do. That’s the difference right there. For example say you want to be a blogger that makes a living from their blog. You better settle down for writing at least 1,000 quality posts before you can hope for that to happen. Blogging isn’t the easiest way to go but it is possible. I write multiple posts a day not because I want to (though very often I do want to) but because I know I have to in order to achieve my goal (making a decent income from my blog).

There are times when I’ve been hyped and motivated but far more often it’s a grind. A long arduous grind when I want to just get up and get away from the computer (and eventually I do but not before I’ve accomplished what I need to accomplish) days when I’ve written seven or more posts and just would rather do anything than write more. But I do to give y’all the information you need to reclaim your freedom and expand my brand and influence. Success is a grind that requires discipline and hard work. Many times you’re going to think “That’s the last thing I want to do” but you get up and do it anyways to achieve the success that you desire.

Summary

It’s a grind and a choice. Do you do the things you want to do or do you do the things you have to do? Delayed gratification can work wonders to bring you the success you want. Put in the work and put in the time there is no way around it. But it is worth it in the end. You have to do what others are not willing to do in order to live the life others are not capable of living. It’s as simple as that. Choose greatness and do the things you have to do not the things you want to do.
