The Biggest Obstacle to Your Success is You

You’ve Probably Heard It Before “You Are Your Own Worst Enemy”.

For the vast majority of the population this is the truth.

However it doesn’t have to be.

When it comes down to it. You are ultimately the one who will make or break your success. In every area of your life. Wealth, health, women, everything. Ultimately it is not fate, luck, or chance that decides where you will end up but you. Sure these things can work for or against but ultimately they matter little compared to what is within you. You’ve heard that life is ten percent what happens to you and ninety percent how you deal with it. It’s a cliche but true.

Your attitude, your drive, your hustle, your inner dialogue is what ultimately will decide your fate. In other words your mindset. This is great news.

Why?

Because you are in control of your mindset. That’s right you are in control. Not over things happening in the world, not over other people, and not over fate but over something that matters one hundred times more. You are in control of yourself.

However this can also be bad news. Many people get caught in the cycle of waiting on “others” to do things for them. Others includes fate and events outside their control. Because of this some people will spend their entire lives waiting on a bus that just ain’t coming. The bus of “others” delivering them from their situations.

Another way people become their own worst enemy is that they constantly cut down themselves. They listen to the voices of others, of doubters instead of the inner voice that tells them “You can do it”. They let the poison of culture, media, and the education system beat them down into conformist cogs that will work forty hours a week for a sadistic boss and little reward without question.

Because of the constant propaganda that we’ve been exposed to we eventually learn to listen to it instead of ourselves. We limit ourselves drastically. We replace dreams with traffic jams, low pay, and stress because it’s what we have been fashioned to do since preschool.

How To Get Out of Your Own Way

To get out of your own way you must adopt a proper mindset. The mindset of believing in yourself and even more importantly of having the courage, the grit, to listen to your own inner voice instead of the voice of society. Instead of the voice of the “others”. Remember being part of the majority is not something to strive for, it’s something to avoid like the plague.

We’ve talked about self-talk before. Your self-talk is incredibly important. Your self-talk is how you program your mind. Just like you would a computer. If you program it to fail, it will fail. If you program it to succeed, it will succeed. It’s as simple as that.

It takes courage and guts to become your own greatest asset. But it is something that must be done. If you own mind is working against  yourself it will never matter how much success you get because you will always find ways to sabotage it. If you don’t believe you’re worthy of success you will repel it and even when you do get it find ways to screw it up.

This may sound crazy but many people do just this. They start a business that begins to grow and do well. But something inside them tells them they’re not worthy of it so they sabotage it. You see this a lot with relationships. Someone will have the relationship of their dreams but then go and sabotage it because deep down they don’t feel that they are worthy of it.

Having a negative self-image and trying to attain success is like trying to fill a bucket with no bottom. It’ll never work and even if you’re able to some how fill it, it will only last for a few seconds. Your journey to success in life starts in your mind.

Out of all the things that are covered on this site health, wealth, survival, attraction, masculinity, and mindset. Mindset is by far the most important and the solid foundation for the others to grow on. Without the proper mindset the rest won’t matter.

Below is a book recommended for those who have negative self-talk.

What to Say When you Talk To Yourself by Shad Helmstetter

Get out of your own way. Ignore society. Believe in yourself. You’ve heard this a million times but it doesn’t mean a thing if you don’t take action towards it. It one thing to say “Yeah I should believe in myself” and another to actually go out and do it.

Talk is cheap, actions are what matter.

Anyone can talk about anything. Talk doesn’t matter. Only actions create change.

Control yourself and the world around you will not matter. Control your mind and no adversity fate can dream up will destroy you. You will be like an oak with firm roots. The strongest winds can blow but it will not phase you.
