Always Have A Project You Are Working On

Your time is your most valuable resource. Those who waste it are the greatest of fools. If you saw a man who was throwing one hundred dollar bills down a drain you and everyone else would think the he was mad, and rightfully so. Yet so many waste something that is so much more valuable, their time. They waste away their lives because they were given them freely, and people never value what they are given freely. Regardless of it’s inherent worth.

Everyday people around the world spend their time doing things that have no value in them. They spend their time mindlessly consuming. Whether it is TV, porn, the internet, social media, or whatever other sedative method the puppet master have dredged up, society swallows it hook, line, and sinker. We are taught to be consumers. Going from paycheck to paycheck, from moment to moment. Never maintaining or sometimes even achieving consciousness. This is no way to live.

Goals

Goals are essential to developing a productive life. A life that is actually lived, not just going through the motions until you die. Goals direct your energies and help focus your mind on a single thing. Until that single thing becomes a reality. Goals held shape your world to your desire. So that when you wake up in the morning your aren’t living a never ending nightmare but rather living a life that you desire.

One goal that just about everyone has is the goal of making more money. Yet they do not know how to go about doing this. So it remains in their heads and they never take action to make the goal of making more money a reality. Or they start out fired up and get new ideas but then never act on them and instead return to their old habits and ways of doing things. It takes hard work to get out of a habit cycle but it is well worth it.

But there is a way to harness that motivation and turn it into something worthwhile that will stay with you and bring you great return on investment. And that thing is always having a project that you are working on.

Always Have A Project You Are Working On

Once you become financially stable and no longer have to worry about money, then you can take on whatever project you want but until that point I would recommend focusing on a project that has the potential to bring you back money so that you can being slowly but surely becoming independent.

A prime example of this is a book. If you have knowledge on a particular topic, it is very likely that others want to hear about it. It doesn’t have to be something big either. There are people who make their living (and a decent one) off teaching others how to sow better. Trust me there is probably a way to monetize the information that is in your head and get it to work for you. Spend your time working on a project that has the potential to be monetized and help others.

When you finished with that project start another. Keep going until you have achieved all that you want to achieve financially and then start other personal projects. The point is never stop producing, never stop working on something. At first this might sound exhausting but it’s far from it. If anything it is invigorating. When a painter finishes painting a new piece thought it make take patience and hard work, he wants to produce another. Because he sees his finished work and because man was made to work towards something.

Work Towards Something

Despite what many believe many wasn’t made to be idle. Because most people work in jobs they hate with people they tolerate, their ultimate fantasy it to have a life where they do nothing. But the few who leverage their time to create wealth and live that life soon find that it is unfulfilling. Man was made to work toward something, granted that work should be life giving work. Art, training, writing I love doing all of these things. Sharpening my mind and senses. Sure they are all hard work but they are life giving work. They invigorate the spirit instead of crush it.

I’m not saying that every moment you are working on the project you are going to enjoy it. Far from it. There will be times when you want to take the whole thing and fling it into the abyss. Don’t. Keep steady and you will be proud of the work that is produced.

Find something that you can work at and begin. No time to waste, after all it is your most precious asset. Even is thirty minutes is all you can devote to a project then do so. Work at it in bits and pieces until the whole is constructed. It may take you longer than others but so be it, you are doing this for yourself and yourself alone. Just get started.

  1. Charles I agree with the premise that it’s important to have goals….but what if the goals become a source of constant frustration ?….I’ll admit I’ve become so frustrated with not achieving any of my goals that I want to rip out my hair in anger. I know that you’ll probably say to start with small goals, but honestly small goals have never excited me enough to even want to do anything small

    • I’m not sure. If big goals frustrate you and small goals don’t get you motivated than medium goals? Haha. But I understand how goals can be frustrating especially if they’re high. One thing I’ve seen recommended and do in my own way is have long term, medium term, and short term goals. Or a three year, one year, and three month set of goals. Perhaps having a variety will help. The best thing is to experiment and then see what works best for you.
